Job summary

Alaska Communications in Anchorage seeks a Materials Management Specialist to handle mail, inventory, and material flows across office, warehouse, and yard environments. You will receive, stock, and issue items, manage vendor shipments, and support repairs and returns while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The role requires an associate degree with warehouse experience, forklift certification and a valid Alaska driver’s license; local travel to multiple sites is possible.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and one year experience in inventory control, warehousing, purchasing, or shipping.
• High school diploma with three years general office experience accepted.
• Three years warehouse experience with computerized inventory control system.
• Two years in a local telephone company warehouse (Anchorage MMS II).
• Must have valid Alaska driver’s license; forklift and hazardous materials certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, date stamp, and route incoming mail and packages.
• Sort and prepare outgoing mail and express shipments.
• Prepare documents for special handling or overnight delivery.
• Operate material-handling equipment and maintain inventory levels.
• Conduct monthly and yearly physical inventory counts and reconcile variances.

Education

Associate’s degree (related field)

High school diploma or GED + 3 years general office experience

Warehouse experience with inventory control

Experience in a local telephone company warehouse (Anchorage MMS II)

IATA certification

CFR Part 49 Hazardous Materials certification
