Job summary

MITER Brands is seeking a Swing Shift Crate Specialist in Washington to read shipping notices, measure materials, and assemble enclosures for large or odd-shaped goods. You will pack items into containers, bolt and label shipments, and complete shipping paperwork while meeting daily production goals.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, basic math and written communication, and is designated for the Swing Shift 3:30PM-12:30AM with overtime.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in similar environments handling finished goods.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Layout dimensions on materials with a ruler and pencil.
• Saw materials to size and assemble components.
• Place product in container and bolt heavy pieces to the bottom.
• Build enclosures around large or odd-shaped articles and attach labels.
• Count items to match shipping orders and complete paperwork.
• Follow daily production requirements to meet delivery dates and minimize waste.
• Maintain equipment and tools and inspect machinery for damage.
• Follow safe work practices and ensure a clean, hazard-free area.

Job DescriptionLocation: Fife, WAStarting Pay: $22.00/hour + $2.00/hour swing shift differentialSchedule: Swing Shift 3:30PM-12:30AM (mandatory overtime)A Swing Shift Crate Specialist is available in Tacoma, WA at Milgard Windows and Doors.You will have experience reading shipping notices, and other specifications, and inspecting products to determine the size and shape of the container, materials to be used, and types of supports and braces to be used. In addition, you will fabricate wooden barred enclosures or boxes and pack such items as windows, doors, or other large or odd-shaped products.MITER Brands is a family of leading window and door brands united by our passion for quality and driven by the relentless pursuit of 100%. At MITER Brands, we’re reframing what’s possible – for our team, our customers, and communities across America.Crate Specialist job responsibilities include:Layout dimensions on materials with a ruler, measuring tape, and pencil.Saw materials to size.Assembles materials.Places product in container.Bolts heavy pieces to the bottom of the container or skid.Build an enclosure around large or odd-shaped articles.Attaches identification labels or stencils containing such information as shipping destination, weight, and type of product contained.Counts items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders.Completes shipping paperwork.Complies with daily production requirements to meet specified delivery dates.Works to minimize waste in all areas as described in the employees' MPS commitments.Constantly monitors personal and surrounding work to ensure that areas are clean and free of hazards. Maintains all equipment and tools in peak operating condition, calls for repairs or maintenance as needed, and constantly inspects machinery for damage.Assures a safe work environment through understanding and following safe work practices.Reads and understands product information tags to ensure all aspects and window options are incorporated into the finished product.Qualifications:Previous experience in similar environments handling various sizes of finished goods.Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
