This role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and problem solving in a high‑performing shop. You will use surface grinders, tools, and inspection devices to ensure flatness, squareness, and dimensional accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 10+ years machining/manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and prints.
• Experience with manual machining and CNC operations.
• Strong measurement and inspection skills.
• Familiarity with TPM and preventive maintenance processes.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to machine parts within tight tolerances.
• Operate manual Bridgeport-style mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
• Use advanced math for precision machining and verify parts with calipers, micrometers and gauges.
• Maintain a clean, safe workstation and assist teammates as needed.
• Collaborate with team to ensure quality and on-time production.

If you’re someone who takes pride in producing ultra‑precise parts, enjoys hands‑on machining, and thrives in a collaborative shop atmosphere — we’d love to meet you.MITER Brands is one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of energy‑efficient windows and doors, with a strong reputation for quality, stability, and growth opportunities.What You’ll DoIn this role, you’ll work independently and as part of a skilled team to fabricate high‑precision parts that keep our manufacturing operations running smoothly.Machining & FabricationInterpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to machine parts within tight tolerances (.0002"–.0005").Use surface grinders (6" & 14") to achieve flatness, squareness, and perpendicularity to .0002".Machine complex features including compound tapers; perform tool grinding for form cutting & sharpening.Operate manual Bridgeport‑style mills, lathes, and surface grinders.Technical & Measurement ExpertiseUse advanced math (geometry, trigonometry, speeds/feeds calculations) for precision machining.Measure and verify parts with calipers, micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, gauge blocks, and other precision tools.Calibrate and maintain measuring devices.Tooling, Setup & MaintenanceAssemble and disassemble complex tooling.Verify machine alignment and perform routine maintenance to ensure proper performance.Dress grinding wheels and cutting tools.Shop Collaboration & SafetyWork independently with minimal supervision.Provide guidance or instruction to others in the tool shop when needed.Maintain a clean, safe, organized workstation.Utilize Machinery’s Handbook and work with a variety of materials.Support EquipmentUse support equipment including:BandsawsVertical & horizontal tool sharpenersTwist drill sharpenersPedestal grindersHand‑polishing toolsWhat You BringWe’re looking for a skilled machinist with a passion for precision and continuous improvement.QualificationsAssociate degree in a technical field or 10+ years of machining/manufacturing experience.Strong ability to read engineering drawings and prints.Advanced part measurement and inspection skills.Experience with manual machining and CNC operations.Solid understanding of mechanical systems (bearings, gears, cams, slides, pneumatics/hydraulics).CNC programming experience (machine interface or external software).Experience with SolidWorks, SolidCam, AutoCAD, or VectorPoint is a plus.Basic knowledge of electrical and pneumatic machine controls.Familiarity with TPM and preventive maintenance processes.Strong communication skills and attention to detail.Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft applications.Knowledge of window production machinery is a plus (not required).Why You’ll Love Working HereCompetitive pay and stable day‑shift scheduleWork with a highly skilled team in a clean, safety‑focused environmentOpportunities for career growth within MITER BrandsBe part of a company committed to quality, innovation, and craftsmanship#MITERtacWhat We OfferAt MITER Brands, we invest in your health, wealth, and wellness.
