Summary

This position supports Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture by actively applying CI methods to support operations. The Engineer will identify and drive change through data-driven CI, Engineering, and Automation efforts to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role involves leveraging data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools to identify root causes and eliminate issues. It requires interfacing with employees at all levels and functions, reporting to the Lead Engineer, CI Manager, or Sr. CI Manager, and aligning closely with Operations Management.

Essential Functions

1. Collect data, perform statistical analysis, map and document processes. Identify process gaps, recommend and implement improvements. Develop and manage CI plans to drive value, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
2. Manage CI and steady-state engineering projects to improve business results. Support certifications, automation projects, and interact with management and customers.
3. Develop competency in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards. Apply methodologies like product slotting, labor standards, layouts, data analysis, and resource modeling to optimize operations.
4. Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps & Kaizen Events. Coach process owners on lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
5. Provide regular data reports to measure progress and recommend inventory and supply chain strategies.

Additional Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor QMS based on standards.
• Implement corrective actions and support regulatory compliance.
• Perform QA functions for start-ups or expansions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years. If MBA, undergraduate in Engineering.
• Expertise in MS Office, intermediate skills in data visualization and programming preferred.
• Experience with lean systems, engineering functions, warehouse design tools, and automation solutions preferred.
• Certifications like Lean Six Sigma, PMP, ISO/QMS are a plus.
