Summary

This position supports Ryder’s Continuous Improvement culture by applying CI methods to enhance operations. The Engineer identifies and drives change through data-driven CI, Engineering, and Automation efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost, leveraging data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools. The role involves interfacing with employees at all levels and reports to the Lead Engineer or CI Manager, closely aligned with Operations Management.

Essential Functions

1. Collect data, perform statistical analysis, map processes, identify gaps, and implement process improvements. Develop and manage CI plans to drive value and improve key metrics.
2. Manage CI and steady-state engineering projects, support certifications, and identify automation opportunities. Collaborate with operations management and customers.
3. Develop competencies in engineering methods, lean tools, and quality standards; coach employees in CI, QA, and lean principles. Apply methodologies like product slotting, labor standards, layout optimization, data analysis, and resource modeling.
4. Facilitate Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen Events, coaching process owners on lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
5. Provide reports to measure progress and recommend strategies for inventory and supply chain improvements.

Additional Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor QMS based on standards.
• Implement corrective action systems and support regulatory compliance.
• Perform QA functions for start-ups or expansions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
• Self-driven, flexible, highly organized, and capable of multi-tasking.
• Experience with system and change implementation.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; manage cross-functional CI projects.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau), and SQL/DAX.
• Knowledge of engineering methods, lean tools, warehouse design software (AutoCAD, Slot3D, MOST), WMS, and automation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years (MBA candidates should have an engineering background).
• Expertise in MS Office; intermediate skills in data visualization and database programming preferred.
• Experience in lean methodologies, engineering functions, warehouse design tools, and automation knowledge is preferred.
