Summary

This position supports Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture by applying continuous improvement methods to enhance operations. The Engineer will identify and drive change through data-driven CI, Engineering, and Automation efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role involves leveraging data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools to identify and eliminate root causes. The position reports to the Lead Engineer, CI Manager, or Sr. CI Manager, and works closely with Operations Management.

Essential Functions

1. Collects data, performs statistical analysis, maps and documents processes. Identifies process gaps and implements improvements. Develops and manages continuous improvement plans to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
2. Manages CI and engineering projects to improve business results. Supports certifications and automation projects. Interacts with operations management and customers.
3. Develops competency in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards. Coaches employees in CI, QA, and Lean principles. Applies methodologies like product slotting, labor standards, layouts, data analysis, and resource modeling.
4. Facilitates Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events. Coaches process owners on lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
5. Provides regular data reports to track progress and recommends strategies for inventory and supply chain improvements.

• Designs and maintains Quality Management System (QMS)
• Implements corrective action systems
• Supports regulatory compliance and certification
• Performs quality assurance functions for start-ups or expansions
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years
• Expertise in MS Office, intermediate in data visualization and database programming
• Experience with lean systems, engineering functions, warehouse design tools, and automation solutions
• Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, PMP, ISO/QMS preferred
