Job summary

Herff Jones in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Warehouse Scale Operator to keep our shipping process running smoothly. You will operate our computerized scale and shipping systems, select carriers, and ensure every incoming and outgoing shipment is handled with precision.

You’ll contribute to on‑time orders, help reduce delays, and support production flow by staying organized, working independently, and maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• Must meet all Company and federal (OSHA) forklift operator certification requirements.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of PC and related software.
• Reading, writing, and math skills commensurate with job duties.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in making sure our customers receive their orders accurately, on time, and with the level of care they expect from us. You’ll be the person who:

• keeps our shipping process running smoothly
• operating our computerized scale and shipping systems
• selecting the most cost‑effective carriers
• ensuring every incoming and outgoing shipment is handled with precision

What You’ll Be Doing On A Daily Basis

• operating the computerized scale and shipping system
• Process and coordinate shipments so our customers receive their orders in a timely fashion
• Select the most cost-effective and timely shipping methods for customer orders
• Processes all incoming receivables

What You’ll Bring To The Table

Education / Certifications Required

• Must meet all Company and federal (OSHA) requirements for forklift operator certification
• Preferred ability to recognize colors and materials
• Must have strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
• Good working knowledge of PC and related software
• Reading, writing, and math skills commensurate with job duties
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Physical Requirements Include But Not Limited To

• Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
• Standing on a fatigue mat in a specific area throughout a 10 hour+ shift.
• Be able to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
• Standing for 8 hours a day or longer.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above moderate.
• Ability to work in an environment with repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, and elbows.
• Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential job functions.
