Job summary

River Valley Foods Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Receiver for the early shift in Syracuse, NY. The role focuses on accurately receiving inbound freight, ensuring item quality, and maintaining HACCP/SQF standards.

You will inspect equipment, palletize goods, and verify product details while upholding safety and organization across the warehouse. The position requires 18+, English literacy, reliability, and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen. RF gun experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read, speak and understand English in order to understand supervisor instructions.
• Organized, self-motivated and have good communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to use the RF gun.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on time for the start of the scheduled shift.
• Perform a pre-operation inspection of any equipment being used in the receiving process.
• Accurate receive items and palletize them for put away.
• Adhere to HACCP requirements of refrigerated loads.
• Follow company and SQF guidelines when handling products, including the handling of damaged cases found during receiving.
• Ensure pallets are properly wrapped to ensure stability though the warehouse.
• Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times.
• Verify, UPD, Description, and Pack Size of item being received.
• Additional duties (selecting, cleaning, replenishing bays, or others) as requested by supervisor.

Salary Range: $20.00 To $20.00 Hourly

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Empire Valley, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

General Description/Purpose:

The Receiver is responsible for accurately and efficiently receiving inbound freight and ensuring that its quality meets our customer’s expectations. The Receiver reports to the First Shift Supervisor

• Able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods of time
• Able to lift 75 pounds consistently throughout shift

Work Schedule:

• Monday- Friday 5am-1:45pm

Wages:

• $20.00 per hour
