Job summary

Central Steel & Wire, part of the Ryerson family, is hiring a Warehouse Operator in Illinois. You will stage and load material for shipments, operate forklifts, and ensure SAP paperwork accuracy for shipping and receiving.

The role includes onboarding through an apprenticeship and a competitive starting wage. Applicants should have at least 2 years of similar work, basic math and computer skills, and the ability to pass physical requirements.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem solving.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math skills required.
• Basic computer skills or comfort using a computer.
• Physical ability to pass vision, hearing, and mobility requirements.
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program on onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Packaging of material to customer requirements.
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer.
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation.
• All other duties as assigned or may change at any time.

As a Warehouse Operator, you will be responsible for day-to-day staging and loading material for shipments using proper equipment including overhead cranes and forklifts.

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders

• Packaging of material to customer requirements

Requirements

Salary: $22.92 - $26.12 per hour (A starting salary higher than $22.92 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
