Job summary

Central Steel & Wire, part of the Ryerson Family of Companies, is hiring a Warehouse Operator for the 2nd shift (Mon–Fri, 3pm–11:30pm). You will pick, stage, and pack material for shipments, using forklifts and SAP for order confirmations, with onboarding through a registered apprenticeship program.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills‑based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem solving.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Regular attendance and basic math skills required.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer.
• Candidates will enroll in a registered apprenticeship program during onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Pick and stage feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Break down bulk bundles for customer orders.
• Package material to customer requirements.
• Operate a sit‑down or side loader forklift as needed.
• Complete shipping/receiving SAP work orders accurately.
• Maximize productivity for finished goods creation.
• Other duties may be assigned or changed as needed.

The Warehouse Operator role is a 2nd shift position scheduled Monday – Friday from 3 pm – 11:30 pm. Responsible for day‑to‑day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer‑specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit‑down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills‑based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred
• Regular attendance
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training

Salary: $22.92 – $26.12 per hour. A starting salary higher than $22.92 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
