Job summary

Givens Packing & Crating in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to lead our warehouse team. You will oversee daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and order processing, ensuring accuracy, safety, and on-time delivery.

The role requires hands-on leadership on the floor, collaboration with management, and the ability to train and develop staff while maintaining high productivity and compliance with WMS and RF-scanner workflows.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of warehouse or distribution experience.
• Previous experience leading or supervising employees in a warehouse environment.
• Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse processes.
• Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
• SAP experience is a plus.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and hold team members accountable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory, and order processing.
• Lead, direct, and support warehouse associates to meet daily productivity and accuracy goals.
• Coordinate staffing and daily work assignments based on operational needs.
• Monitor workflow and make adjustments to keep operations running efficiently.
• Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory, review activity, and resolve operational issues.
• Ensure shipping and receiving documentation is completed accurately, including bills of lading, receiving paperwork, and driver logs.
• Assist with training, coaching, and developing warehouse employees.
• Identify operational problems and work with management to implement solutions.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and ensure warehouse procedures are followed.
• Communicate with management, employees, and customers regarding daily operations.
• Ensure employees follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Assist with forklift operations and other warehouse duties when needed.
• Open or close the warehouse facility as assigned.
