Warehouse Operations Attendant

Limited Term Appointment: This is a limited-term position anticipated for up to 6 months and is contingent upon the availability of allocated funds, as well as favorable performance by the incumbent. When the need for additional staff ends, the position will be eliminated unless RPU chooses ongoing continuation.

RPU, a division of the City of Rochester, MN, is the largest municipal utility in Minnesota. It serves over 57,000 electric customers and 41,000 water customers within a 60-square-mile area, with revenues nearing $161 million annually.

Nature of Work

This position works under the supervision of the Warehouse Operations Specialist and is responsible for selecting, disbursing, receiving, storing, and securing materials and supplies essential for the utility's operations.

2025 wage: $30.95/hour

Duties and Responsibilities

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

  • Receiving materials and supplies.
  • Assisting with ordering to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Properly storing and securing materials with the Warehouse Operations Specialist's help.
  • Performing miscellaneous duties as required.
Essential Functions
  • Carry out daily workload assignments from the Warehouse Operations Specialist.
  • Disburse materials and supplies from stores.
  • Receive properly authorized issue forms and record transactions in the computer.
  • Assist with staging materials for work crews and make field deliveries as needed.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counting and verify incoming shipments.
  • Complete receiving forms and notify requesting parties upon receipt.
  • Store materials properly, perform inventory counts, and manage returns or disposals.
  • Review materials transactions daily to monitor inventory levels.
  • Assess and recommend improvements for storage and security systems.
  • Maintain the tool room and related records.
  • Perform repairs on returned materials and assist in record keeping.
  • May substitute for the Warehouse Operations Specialist when absent and be available for overtime.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience in warehousing, preferably in utilities.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license; Minnesota Class B CDL preferred.

Additional Information

This position may be subject to the City's drug testing policy, complying with state and federal laws.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of inventory control, MS Office, and safety regulations; skill in data entry, operating equipment, and basic math; ability to multitask, organize, communicate effectively, and lift up to 50 pounds safely.

Physical and Environmental Criteria

This is considered medium work involving lifting, standing, walking, and exposure to warehouse hazards. Accommodations may be provided as per ADA requirements.
