Qualifications

Patterson Heating & Air Conditioning has served the Charlotte area since 1946. We provide residential and commercial HVAC service, maintenance, replacement, and installation. We are looking for a dependable, organized, hands-on Warehouse Manager who can keep our field teams supplied, our inventory accurate, and our warehouse running the way a professional HVAC company should.

The Role

The Warehouse Manager will take ownership of the day-to-day operation of Patterson's warehouse, inventory, receiving, parts flow, and warehouse organization. You will work closely with Service, Install, Commercial, Purchasing/Accounting, and company leadership to make sure technicians and crews have the right equipment and materials when they need them.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the daily operation, cleanliness, organization, security, and safety of the warehouse and storage areas.
• Receive HVAC equipment, parts, materials, and supplies; verify quantities and condition against purchase orders and packing documents.
• Ensure received materials are accurately entered, labeled, stored, and assigned to the correct inventory location or job.
• Stage equipment and materials for residential replacement, service, and commercial jobs so crews are prepared before leaving the shop.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and investigate variances, missing items, duplicate purchases, damaged materials, and incorrect job allocations.
• Lead cycle counts and periodic physical inventory counts; recommend practical controls that improve inventory accuracy without slowing the field team.
• Maintain appropriate stocking levels for commonly used HVAC parts, filters, fittings, consumables, and installation materials; identify stockouts, excess inventory, and obsolete items.
• Coordinate routine purchasing and replenishment within approved guidelines and communicate backorders or material risks before they affect scheduled work.
• Coordinate truck-stock standards and periodic vehicle inventory checks with Service and Install leadership.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment safely; maintain required inspections and operating practices.
• Coordinate local deliveries, pickups, and parts runs when necessary to keep jobs moving.
• Develop and maintain simple warehouse procedures for receiving, returns, staging, truck stock, inventory adjustments, scrap/disposal, and after-hours material access.
• Work closely with Accounting to ensure purchase orders, receiving information, job-cost coding, vendor credits, and inventory adjustments are timely and accurate.
• Communicate daily with Service, Install, and Commercial leaders regarding job requirements, equipment arrivals, shortages, returns, and priority needs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of warehouse, inventory, parts, distribution, construction-material, or related operations experience preferred.
• Prior HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical-contracting, or building-material experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of inventory control, purchasing, receiving, cycle counts, returns, and material staging.
• Comfort using ERP, inventory, purchasing, or warehouse software; ability to learn Patterson's systems and maintain accurate transactions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage interruptions and changing priorities without losing accuracy.
• Clear communication skills and the confidence to work directly with technicians, project managers, vendors, and leadership.
• Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the company's insurance carrier.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to work on your feet for significant portions of the day in a warehouse/shop environment. Ability to bend, reach, climb, push, pull, and safely lift/carry up to 50 pounds regularly, with heavier items handled using appropriate equipment or team assistance.
• Ability to work in warehouse and outdoor conditions that may vary with the season.
• Occasional local driving or jobsite/vendor pickup activity may be required.

• Technicians and crews leave with the right material and fewer preventable return trips to the shop or supply house.
• Inventory records increasingly match what is physically on the shelf and on company vehicles.
• Vendor returns, warranties, cores, and credits are tracked to completion.
• The warehouse is clean, labeled, safe, and easy for employees to use without depending on one person's memory.
