Job summary

Gehl Food & Beverage in Walterboro, SC is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead warehousing operations at our multi‑shift facility. This role owns safety, food safety compliance, inventory accuracy and traceability, and budget performance across a seven‑day operation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive warehouse/distribution leadership.
• 5+ years in management within food or beverage.
• Strong Lean/continuous improvement background.
• Experience partnering with production, logistics and supply chain.
• Proficiency with warehouse management systems; Ross/Aptean ERP is a plus.
• Excellent communication from floor to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily and strategic warehouse operations with safety, quality, throughput, and cost accountability.
• Develop and retain high-performing teams and foster ownership and continuous improvement.
• Establish KPIs, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions.
• Oversee inbound materials, staging, and timely supply to production.
• Manage inventory control, lot-traceability, FIFO/FEFO, and cycle counting.
• Ensure on-time loading/unloading, shipping, SOP compliance and safety.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain to optimize flow.
• Champion Lean and cost-saving initiatives across shifts.

Position Overview

Gehl Food & Beverage is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead warehousing operations supporting our Walterboro, SC manufacturing facility. This critical leadership role owns safety, food safety compliance, inventory accuracy and traceability, team development, budget performance, and operational efficiency across a multi-shift, seven‑day‑a‑week operation.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on, results‑driven leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, manufacturing‑adjacent environment and has a strong track record of building teams and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily and strategic warehouse operations, with accountability for safety, quality, throughput, inventory accuracy, service, and cost performance.
• Build, develop, and retain high‑performing teams while creating a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Establish and manage warehouse KPIs, identifying performance gaps and driving corrective actions.
• Oversee inbound raw and packaging materials, staging, and timely material supply to production.
• Own inventory control and traceability, including lot‑code tracking, FIFO/FEFO, cycle counting, and root‑cause resolution of inventory variances.
• Ensure accurate loading/unloading, on‑time shipping, case‑fill performance, recordkeeping, SOP compliance, safety, and housekeeping.
• Partner closely with manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless product and material flow across shifts.
• Champion Lean and cost‑saving initiatives, eliminating waste and delivering sustainable process improvements.
• Maintain compliance with food safety standards, GMPs, and AIB/GFSI audit requirements.
• Manage staffing, warehouse capacity, budgets, forecasting, and required operational reporting.
• Maintain regular on‑site presence across shifts, including scheduled nights and weekends, with occasional travel to other Gehl facilities.

Requirements

What You Bring

• 10+ years of progressive warehouse/distribution leadership experience, including 5+ years in management.
• Food or beverage industry experience, including hands‑on lot tracking, traceability, and stock rotation in a regulated environment.
• Strong Lean/continuous improvement background.
• Experience supporting manufacturing and partnering with production, logistics, and supply chain functions.
• Demonstrated success building, coaching, and developing teams.
• Proficiency with warehouse management systems; Ross/Aptean ERP experience is a significant plus.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively from the warehouse floor through senior leadership.
