Job summary

Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology, LLC in Brooklyn Park, MN, is seeking a Warehouse Manager to lead daily operations, safety, and continuous improvement for our production logistics.

You will oversee receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, inventory control, and mentor a supervisor-led team, partnering with Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality and Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in operations management, supply chain, business or related field, OR equivalent experience of 7+ years.
• Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• MUST have a minimum of 3 years of SAP ERP warehouse-specific experience.
• Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional teams.
• Intermediate experience using Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Manage daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, returns, put-away’s and staging.
• Ensure optimal warehouse layout and space utilization for new and existing parts for product lines that are arriving domestically and internationally.
• Understand, maintain and improve kanban processes and flow with the production team on the floor, partnering with their teams to ensure stock is filled and part numbers maintained.
• Oversee cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies in SAP.
• Monitor warehouse key performance indicators such as order accuracy, picking productivity, on-time shipments, dock-to-stock time, inventory accuracy, and safety performance.
• Partner with the Fulfillment Operations Manager at the onsite warehouse to ensure materials are delivered timely to the production floor.

Location / Region

This role is located in our facility in Brooklyn Park, MN. It is fully onsite, 5 days a week.

What’s the role? The Warehouse Manager

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for safety, leadership, operational performance, and continuous improvement of the warehouse and the team. Part of this role is leading daily warehouse operations to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely movement of materials and products for our production floor. This role oversees receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, inventory control, team performance, process improvement, and compliance with company policies and safety standards. The Warehouse Manager is accountable for creating a highly collaborative environment across Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality and Finance to ensure seamless execution of customer orders and efficient product flow throughout the organization. This position will be based at our new offsite warehouse and will manage the warehouse staff as well as the material flow back and forth with the production warehouse management team. In addition, this role champions ZEISS core values and culture by partnering with internal and external partners for effective and timely communication and problem resolution.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Coordination

• Provide leadership, coaching, training, and professional development for the reporting team.
• Empower and motivate employees via feedback, improvement initiatives and recognition.
• Ensure employee performance meets all established requirements regarding policy and procedure adherence.
• Plan and execute training and development of direct reports.
• Exemplify ZEISS values (Serve, Empower, Act, Win) and help to build and lead a high-performing team.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead Lean initiatives focused on waste reduction and operational efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, including workflow changes, equipment uses, automation, lean practices, and cost control.
• Improve warehouse productivity and fulfillment processes.
• Standardize work procedures, work instructions and implement best practices.
• Utilize operational metrics to drive performance improvements and help create, implement and drive new metrics.

Do you qualify?

• Bachelor’s degree in operations management, supply chain, business or related field, OR equivalent experience of 7+ years.
• Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• MUST have a minimum of 3 years of SAP ERP warehouse-specific experience.
• Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional teams.
• Excellence in the following skills: Written and verbal communication, Service orientation, Attention to detail, Time management, Teamwork, Problem solving, Self‑motivation, Able to work autonomously.
• Prior SAP ERP implementation experience preferred.
• Intermediate experience using Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).

Working Conditions

Ability to work in a warehouse or distribution environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, equipment traffic, and standing or walking for extended periods. Ability to lift, move, or handle materials as required by company policy and applicable safety guidelines. Ability to manage multiple projects, track their progress and meet deadlines. May require occasional overtime, weekend, or off‑shift work based on operational needs. Must be able to wear PPE including but not limited to steel‑toe shoes, gloves and a hard‑hat in certain areas. Maintains professionalism standards and codes of conduct, acting as a representative and extension of the ZEISS brand – always reflecting ZEISS core values.

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $83,000 – $103,000 and eligible for a performance bonus. The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
