Job summary

Owens & Minor, a global healthcare solutions company, seeks a Shipping Administrator to direct documentation and routing of outgoing freight and coordinate reshipment of incoming freight. You will review documents, assign tariff classifications, and schedule shipments by air, rail, or truck.

The role requires an Associate degree or equivalent, 6 months to 1 year of related experience, and proficiency with MS Office and SAP Inventory System.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or six months to one year related experience.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts (discounts, percentages, etc.).
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished in various forms.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate documentation and routing of outgoing freight.

• Investigate lost/damaged merchandise or shortages to determine responsibility.
• Direct preparation of claims against carriers and settle with shippers.

The administrator also verifies and coordinates reshipment of incoming freight by performing the following duties.Core ResponsibilitiesDirects activities assigning tariff classifications according to type and weight of freight or merchandise; routing and scheduling shipment by air, rail, or truck; and preparing billings from tariff and classification manuals.Reviews documents to ensure that assigned classifications and tariffs are in accordance with mode of transportation and destination of shipment.Investigates shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility.Directs preparation of claims against carrier responsible and corresponds with shipper or consignee to effect settlement.Schedules shipments to ensure compliance with interstate traffic laws and regulations and company policies.Qualifying ExperienceAssociate's degree (A.
