Job summary

LifeScience Logistics in Windsor, CT is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to lead daily warehouse operations, supervise staff, and ensure accurate shipping, receiving and inventory control. You will implement safety SOPs, coordinate training, and improve productivity while maintaining quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with experience in forklift operations, WMS systems, and RF scanning.

Responsibilities

  • Process and requisition supplies, supervise receiving, storage and packing.
  • Coordinate training and safety procedures for staff (safety, SOPs, forklift).
  • Develop schedules, assign shifts and manage attendance.
  • Collaborate with customers to resolve shipping/discrepancy issues.
  • Prepare productivity and reliability statistics for management.
  • Act as backup for Operations Supervisor and review time records.
  • Maintain sanitary warehouse conditions per company standards.
  • Address employee performance and disciplinary actions.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Processing and requisitioning of supplies; delivering, and packaging materials for shipment.
  • Supervise and coordinate Warehouse Personnel and activities which include the receipt, storage, to meet productivity goals, operating objectives, and warehouse maintenance functions.
  • Coordinate new and current employee training to include, but not limited to the following: personal safety, forklift safety, warehouse policy and procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to resolve discrepancies related to shipping, receiving and inventory. Research errors and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare work schedules to include, but not limited to: work assignments/rotations, employee training, breaks, overtime assignments, and coverage for vacation/personal absences.
  • Address and review personnel complaints and grievances ensuring compliance with appropriate company procedures and they are resolved effectively and efficiently without preferences or judgment.
  • Assist Operations Supervisor in developing plans and programs for process improvement.
  • Assist Operations Supervisor in compiling productivity and reliability statistics for management.
  • Complete daily sanitation schedule and process end-shift paperwork.
  • Ensure that warehouse is maintained in a sanitary manner according to Company standards.
  • Consistently inform Operations Supervisor of potential problems and changes.
  • Act as backup in the absence of Operations Supervisor.
  • Review and approve employee time and attendance records.
  • Address performance problems through corrective action and dismissal.

Qualifications And Job Specifications
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalency required. Working on a college degree preferred.
  • Exhibits solid leadership ability.
  • Demonstrates sound problem-solving skills.
  • Displays dedication to a high standard or performance.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have reach truck experience.
  • Ability to be trained on 49-CFR DOT Dangerous Goods transportation and IATA Dangerous Goods air transportation.

Technical Expertise
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Experience with warehouse operations, procedures, equipment, and terminology.
  • Use of terminology of requisitions, invoices, and other warehouse documents.
  • Operation of warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
  • Experience utilizing WMS, RF Guns/Scanners.
Additional Employment Requirements
  • Must be able to successfully pass all preliminary employment requirements (i.e., background check and drug screen).
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
Physical/Mental/Visual Demands
  • Work is light to medium in nature with frequent walking to perform assigned tasks.
  • Occasional lifting of 25 - 50 lbs. is required.
Working Conditions
  • Activities occur both inside and outside.
  • Hazardous conditions may exist, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts.
  • Employee is subjected to extreme cold while supervising in the freezer.
Equipment Operated
  • Equipment: Laptop, Fax Machine, Copier, Desk Phone, and Cell Phone.
  • Systems: Outlook, Excel, and Word.
