Job summary

Mazzella is seeking a Warehouse Lead to oversee receiving and shipping, schedule and assign work, and train staff in a 60,000 square foot distribution center. The role emphasizes cost savings, safety, and on-time deliveries, with daily coordination across departments to meet production schedules.

The candidate should have warehouse experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to lift 50 pounds. E-Verify and background checks may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a warehouse/logistics environment required.
  • Ability to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Experience with cycle counting and inventory accuracy is preferred.
  • Background check/drug screen/E-Verify may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the daily activities of shipping & receiving personnel within a 60,000 square feet multi-functional distribution center.
  • Measure and address the effectiveness of employee performance and warehousing activities.
  • Responsible for TL, LTL, and small parcel shipping with emphasis on cost savings and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure and maintain employees’ safety and environmental concerns.
  • Oversee and perform cycle counting; ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Improve warehouse processes to create a more efficient fulfillment system.
  • Plan and coordinate activities with departments to meet schedules and ship dates.
  • Provide training and instruction to staff.

Brief Description

The Warehouse Lead will perform all duties necessary to receive and ship products according to company policy and procedures, as well as customer deliveries, as needed. Schedule and assign work, oversee warehouse and training of all employees. Responsible for coordinating shipping and receiving to include warehouse inventory and maintain accuracy in systems. This position requires broad experience handling all aspects of the distribution functions.

Requirements
  • Manage and direct the daily activities of shipping & receiving personnel within a 60,000 square feet multi-functional distribution center
  • Measure and address the effectiveness of employee performance and warehousing activities
  • Responsible for TL, LTL, and small parcel shipping, with strong emphasis on transportation cost savings and on-time delivery
  • Ensure and maintain employees’ safety and environmental concerns
  • Oversee and perform cycle counting; ensure the accuracy of the inventory for the organization
  • Improve warehouse work processes through planning to create a more efficient fulfillment system
  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule activities with various departments to meet production schedules and ship dates
  • Utilize daily opportunities to train and instruct along with more formal training as required
  • Focus on workflow while balancing many factors including production time, labor requirement, course of action, product quality optimization, removing obstacles, using technology, ERP system, all other tools and resources
  • Communicate with necessary personnel to satisfy customer requirements, report defective or substandard material supplies or products
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition; follow all Safety Guidelines
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to company principles, policies, procedures, and work instructions in accordance with Company Quality Assurance Standards
  • Assure all material handling equipment is utilized in accordance with company policy and procedure
  • Provide recommendations to supervisor for personnel related issues, i.e. hiring, disciplinary actions, employee relations
  • Other duties as assigned
Education

A high school diploma or GED preferred, trade school or military experience a plus

Experience & Skills
  • Experience in a warehouse/logistics environment required
  • Material handling experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Amazon, Grainger, and Fastenal shipping functions a plus
  • Experience in conflict resolution, direct labor utilization, budgeting, maintaining equipment, maintenance schedules of mission critical equipment
  • Ability to identify bottlenecks and determine effective solutions
  • Ability to identify cost savings strategies and implement promptly and effectively
  • Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required
  • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
