Job Description

The Warehouse Lead III (Back-up Warehouse Supervisor) is a key position within Supply Services, responsible for supervising staff, managing warehouse operations, and ensuring the timely and accurate distribution of supplies to facilities across Texas. This role involves coordinating inventory, maintaining security of state property, and training staff on warehouse procedures and equipment. It offers opportunities to develop skills in modern inventory management systems and logistics, contributing significantly to the support of healthcare facilities and residents.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Attend work on a regular and predictable schedule and perform other duties as assigned.
  2. Coordinate staff duties related to receiving, issuing, rotating stock, and loading/unloading trucks, ensuring proper distribution and stock rotation to prevent spoilage and obsolescence.
  3. In the absence of the supervisor, review inventory and warehouse reports, generate requisitions, and train staff in inventory systems such as MIMS and CAPPS.
  4. Advise staff on SharePoint procedures and operational instructions, monitor warehouse operations, and report on inventory and personnel performance.
  5. Operate and train staff on material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, ensuring safety standards are met.
  6. Complete additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of warehousing methods, inventory control, automated systems, and departmental policies. Ability to supervise, train, and review warehouse staff, operate warehouse equipment, and communicate effectively. Skills in computer use, record keeping, and report preparation. Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders and perform arithmetic calculations.

Requirements
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License (Texas preferred).
  • Forklift Driver Training (SAF0100), completion within six months of employment.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Relevant work experience in inventory control, supervision, or material handling preferred.
