Job summary

The City of Tacoma and Tacoma Public Utilities are seeking a Warehouse Technician to join an eligible list for vacancies over the next year. The role covers receipt, storage, maintenance, and issuance of supplies, and updating an inventory system.

Some heavy lifting and on-call emergency work may occur. Candidates must have a high school diploma and two years warehousing experience, plus a valid Washington driver’s license and forklift certification.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with two years of warehousing experience.
• Experience handling, record keeping and control of a wide variety of parts and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect items received against invoices and specs to ensure quality and quantity.
• Gather and fill orders by requisitions and work orders.
• Stock and restock items and participate in physical inventory.
• Maintain and update computerized inventory system.
• Pick up and deliver items.
• Prepare items for packing and shipping.
• Coordinate with personnel, vendors, departments and customers.
• Operate warehousing tools, equipment and machinery.
• Attend meetings and perform incidental work.
• Perform minor repairs on tools and equipment.
