Position Summary:
The Warehouse/Inventory Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and managing inventory flow and supplies for the manufacturing group, retailers and dealers associated with Steinway & Sons. This includes receiving, storing, and delivering items to the plant, and processing all work orders through a designated schedule, ensuring proper assistance is given when requested.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise all incoming and outgoing direct/ indirect materials for Steinway’s New York manufacturing site.
- Manage and process all requisitions for materials requested by production, ensuring economic distribution quantities and approvals are submitted, through Steinway’s internal order system.
- Train and supervise all warehouse clerks on the daily expectations and requirements of the department, leading daily morning meetings, and follow up discussions on open topics.
- Coordinate weekly material cycle counts and verify inventory accuracy, following all FIFO procedures.
- Retrieve and validate all documentation from the incoming receiving department, moving all inspected goods into warehouse inventory, and reconcile any discrepancies in conjunction with the NY Procurement team.
- Oversee and manage all warehouse security, as well as all safety measures, ensuring a safe environment and atmosphere for work to be conducted.
- Manage all warranty and new part stock orders, as well as the necessary shipping functions for global fulfillment related to those needs.
- Maintain all ERP system transactions related to incoming material, as well as outbound functions associated with reject or scrap material. Additional functions include processing all expensed or miscellaneous items for Steinway dealers, Steinway stores, or Steinway restoration / New part stock.
- Process and manage all rejected material being sent to and from Steinway Suppliers, ensuring repairs are completed in a timely manner, and that inventory is monitored and moved within the ERP system accordingly.
- Lead and conduct inspections on specialized materials, specific to larger cargo, that cannot be held in the Steinway receiving department. Manage all associated documents and paperwork as necessary.
- Direct and instruct warehouse material handlers on daily functions, ensuring a balanced workload for daily tasks between all handlers.
- Work closely with Steinway cost accountants on inventory-related discrepancies, ensuring all requests are fulfilled in a timely manner.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High School degree required, some college preferred.
- Industrial warehouse experience with a supervisory background.
- Must be familiar with receiving and part number procedures.
- Must have working knowledge of inventory control procedures and data entry experience in a warehouse environment.
- Inventory Analysis and Management Background
- Familiar dealings and interaction with vendors and suppliers
- Knowledge and understanding of warehouse settings and actions.
- Working experience of knowing when to call an audible as a situation that occurs takes precedence over everything else.
- Computer literate, Excel, Microsoft and Outlook experience preferred.
The estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000. Compensation will vary based on skills and experience.
