Job description

A growing family-owned small business is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Warehouse & Inventory Operations Associate to join their team.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong sense of ownership, and understands that accuracy and organization are critical to successful day‑to‑day operations.

The ideal candidate is someone who stays busy, works well independently, follows established procedures, and is comfortable speaking up when they see an opportunity to improve a process.

This is not a traditional desk job. The position involves constant movement, physical inventory work, order fulfillment, shipping, and warehouse organization, with very little sedentary work.

  • Pick, pack, and fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently
  • Handle shipping and shipment preparation
  • Perform data entry related to orders, inventory, and shipments
  • Receive, organize, move, and maintain physical inventory
  • Perform regular inventory counts and audits
  • Identify and help resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Maintain an organized and efficient warehouse
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Communicate issues, inefficiencies, and potential process improvements
  • Assist with implementing improved processes and procedures
  • Manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Assist with general warehouse and operational duties as needed
  • Attend hobby‑related trade shows and events as needed
What the Company Is Looking For
Ownership Mentality — Must Have

This is a small business where every team member's contribution matters. The right candidate will:

  • Take ownership of responsibilities from start to finish
  • Be proactive rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done
  • Notice problems and take initiative to address them
  • Care about doing things correctly, not simply getting them done
  • Be comfortable suggesting ways to improve processes
  • Take responsibility for mistakes and work toward solutions
  • Understand that working for a small business sometimes means stepping outside of a narrowly defined job description to help get things done
Attention to Detail & Accuracy

Inventory accuracy is extremely important in this position. Candidates should:

  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy even when performing repetitive tasks
  • Be comfortable double‑checking their work
  • Enter information accurately and consistently
  • Understand the impact that inventory and data‑entry errors can have on the business
Organization & Time Management

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Keep inventory and work areas organized
  • Prioritize competing responsibilities
  • Manage time effectively
  • Multitask without losing attention to detail
  • Meet order and shipping deadlines
  • Work efficiently with minimal supervision
Physical & Work Environment

This is a physically active warehouse position with very little sedentary work.

The position requires the ability to:

  • Remain on your feet and moving for most of the workday
  • Frequently walk, stand, bend, reach, lift, and carry
  • Lift and move items weighing 50+ pounds
  • Work in a warehouse that is not air‑conditioned and not heated
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the day
Repetitive Work

Candidates should understand that this position includes repetitive and sometimes monotonous tasks.

Some days will involve problem‑solving, inventory management, and a variety of responsibilities, while other days may require performing the same task repeatedly for an extended period of time.

The ideal candidate can maintain accuracy, productivity, and a positive attitude even when the work becomes routine.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good time‑management skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to follow written and verbal SOPs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership
  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Ability to work in a non‑climate‑controlled warehouse
  • Willingness to attend hobby‑related trade shows and events as needed
Who Will Thrive in This Position?

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys staying busy, working with their hands, keeping things organized, and seeing tangible results from their work.

The company can teach its specific systems and processes. What is much harder to teach is reliability, personal accountability, attention to detail, and an ownership mindset.

If you are someone who takes pride in your work, enjoys being active throughout the day, and likes finding ways to make things work better, this could be a great opportunity to become an important part of a growing small business.
