Job summary

Fairfax Water is seeking a diligent Warehouse Assistant in Willard, OH, to support receipt, inspection, storage, and distribution of supplies and equipment. You will pick, issue, and move materials for maintenance crews, load/unload trucks, and maintain accurate records in SAP.

Responsibilities include verifying orders, stocking stock neatly, and participating in annual inventory. Overtime and after-hours work may be required; forklift certification is required within 12 months.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of warehouse experience.
  • Must pass a controlled substance test.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate warehouse equipment.

Job description

Under supervision of the Senior Warehouse Specialist, assists in the receipt, inspection, storage and distribution of supplies, materials and equipment. Performs related warehousing activities.

Assists in the receipt, inspection, storage and distribution of supplies, materials and equipment by:
  • Picking and issuing materials from stock to maintenance and construction crews.
  • Loading and unloading trucks.
  • Unpacking and stocking materials and supplies.
  • Verifying the quality of materials and supplies received.
  • Verifying all orders match the packing lists and purchase orders or similar documents.
  • Assuring stock is kept neat and orderly.
  • Picking up materials from suppliers and/or delivery to various Fairfax Water facilities or jobsites.
  • Receive and issue inventory in SAP.
  • Participating in the annual inventory.
  • Report to work as needed after hours, during inclement weather conditions and emergencies.
Performs related warehousing activities by:
  • Assuring vehicles and warehouse equipment are properly maintained.
  • Providing counter sales service to Fairfax Water customers.
  • Performing custodial maintenance of the warehouse, offices and property yard.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Graduation from high school or GED and a minimum of one-year experience in warehouse operations, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and knowledge.
  • Must pass a controlled substance (drug) test for employment.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse and inventory practices.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to make basic arithmetical computations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and all Warehouse Department clients.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Overtime as required.
  • This is an “essential employee” position. Employee may be required to report to work during extreme weather conditions, emergencies, etc.
  • Forklift operator’s certification is required within 12 months of hire.
  • May be required to work at alternate facilities ( Corbalis Water Treatment Facility, North/South or Central Maintenance) as needs dictate on a temporary basis.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) of material.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to operate warehousing equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks.
