Job summary

OnTrac in Commerce, CA is seeking a Warehouse Hostler / Yard Driver to safely position and maneuver trailers to and from the dock, working with the yard team and Operations Management.

Candidates should have at least 1 year driving experience, a clean driving record, be 18+ years old, and able to pass TSA screening and pre-employment checks. The shift is Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM–6:30 PM, with pay at $27 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, or 1 year related experience.
• Minimum 1 year driving experience, preferably with trailers.
• Must pass pre-employment screenings and background checks.
• Must be 18 years or older with a clean driving record and TSA screening.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment as outlined in the Safety Program.
• Pre-trip and inspect each trailer to meet DOT standards.
• Position trailers on the dock using a yard switcher tractor.
• Switch trailers as needed for daily sort and line hauls.
• Communicate trailer moves and numbers clearly with management.

OnTrac is hiring a Warehouse Hostler / Yard Driver !

OnTrac Hostlers are responsible for safely positioning and maneuvering trailers to and from the dock. This position works closely with the yard team and Operations Management.

Location Details: 5959 Randolph St., Commerce, CA 90040
Pay: $27 per hour
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Hours subject to change based on business needs.

The Must-Haves

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both

Minimum 1-year driving experience, preferably with trailers or towed machinery

Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings and background checks

Must be at least 18 years old, possess a clean driving record, valid identification and be able to pass a TSA screening

Must be able to provide a 5-year to 10-year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

Responsibilities

Properly pre-trip and inspect each trailer to meet DOT compliance standards

Correctly position trailers on the dock using a yard switcher tractor

Switching trailers as needed during the daily sort; hook up sets of trailers for line hauls leaving the facility

Clearly communicate trailer moves and numbers with operations management
