Job summary

Berkel & Company Contractors, Inc. is seeking a dependable Delivery Driver to support shop and field operations from our Union Bridge, MD location.

You will transport construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies to jobsites across the Baltimore-Washington region, with emphasis on the Union Bridge shop and local/regional deliveries. Ideal candidates are reliable, organized, able to drive in city and highway traffic, and willing to assist with loading and unloading.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Comfortable driving in city and highway traffic.
• Able to load, secure, transport materials and equipment.
• Experience towing trailers preferred.
• Construction, equipment or delivery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies between the Union Bridge shop, jobsites, vendors, and other locations.
• Make deliveries throughout Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and other local/regional areas.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload materials and equipment safely.
• Perform basic pre-trip and post-trip inspections of company vehicles and trailers.
• Properly secure loads before transportation.
• Maintain awareness of vehicle, trailer, load, and roadway safety requirements.
• Communicate with shop personnel, field crews, and supervisors regarding pickups, deliveries, schedules, and delays.
• Obtain delivery paperwork, receipts, signatures, or other documentation as required.
• Keep company vehicles clean and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Assist around the shop with loading, unloading, organizing materials, and other tasks when not making deliveries.
• Follow all company safety policies and applicable traffic and transportation regulations.
• If driving is not needed for the day, employee will perform basic shop tasks or work with other team members

Position Summary

Berkel & Company Contractors, Inc. is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Delivery Driver to support our shop and field operations.

This position will primarily operate out of our Union Bridge, MD location and will be responsible for transporting construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies to jobsites and other locations throughout the region. Regular delivery areas include Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and surrounding areas.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, organized, comfortable driving in both city and highway traffic, and willing to assist with loading and unloading as needed. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience and are comfortable towing trailers.

Driver will assume basic shop tasks if a driver is not needed for the day (mechanic work, job prep, job demobilization etc. ). Reliable and regular attendance is required.

Job Requirements

• Valid driver's license with a clean and acceptable driving record.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Comfortable driving throughout the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area, including Northern Virginia.
• Ability to safely load, unload, and secure construction materials and equipment.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with deliveries and shop work.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Construction, equipment, warehouse, or delivery experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience towing and backing trailers is strongly preferred.
• Experience hauling construction equipment or materials is preferred
• Familiarity with proper load securement and trailer safety.
• CDL or other relevant driving qualifications are a plus, depending on the vehicles and equipment operated.
