Job summary

Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region is seeking a Full-Time Warehouse/Donations Assistant in Charlotte, NC. You will help unload donations, load purchases, and keep the back room and donation dock organized while moving merchandise to and from the sales floor.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and customer-service as you assist volunteers and donors, operate a forklift when needed, and support the Restore site on a rotating 40-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Ability to move and lift 50 lbs unassisted.
• Ability to move and lift 75 lbs with assistance.
• Forklift Certification may be obtained and operated regularly.
• Ability to work outdoors in all climates.
• Ability to climb steps to forklift cab.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in unloading donations, loading purchases, keeping the back room and donation dock organized by efficiently moving merchandise to and from the sales floor.
• Ensure that each customer and donor receive outstanding service.
• Guarantee safe and prompt loading and unloading of Restore trucks and donated or purchased merchandise.
• Maintain safe procedures while moving merchandise to and from the sales floor.
• Inform customers of our donations acceptance policy; refer donors to alternate options for items we do not accept.
• Be knowledgeable about company’s products, services, and customer-related policies.
• Be an effective team member when working with staff and volunteers.
• Utilize forklift as required.

Position Purpose

Estimated Time Commitment

40 hours/week, including weekends and periodic holidays. Rotating Sunday - Saturday schedule, Sundays off, additional day off as scheduled by supervisor. Shifts scheduled to begin as early as 8:30AM and end as late as 7PM, depending on staffing needs.

• Requires Minimal Supervision
• Reports to Backroom Supervisor
