Job summary

Goodwill Houston is seeking a reliable Material Handler to process goods and keep the outlet store and donation center running smoothly. You will manage bale production, sort and rotate merchandise, and assist with dock movement and loading of trucks.

The role requires attention to safety, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and willingness to follow GWH policies. High school diploma preferred; 6 months of experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Six months of experience as a Material Handler or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in salvage tracking & reporting.
  • Spotter experience is preferred.
  • Safety certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of loading techniques for salvage loads.
  • Able to operate forklift and related equipment safely.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates GWH’s Core Values in all actions.
  • Ensures adherence to Guiding Principles and CARF standards.
  • Ensures outlet store operations are aligned and consistent.
  • Processes donated goods efficiently per GWH needs.
  • Balances bale production: 8–10 bales per 8-hour shift.
  • Sorts totes and processes each tote with urgency.
  • Rotates products to keep stock fresh and accessible.
  • Assists in movement of goods on dock and production areas.
  • Fills Outlet boats and rotates on the floor per schedule.
  • Sorts products into salvage, recycling, and trash per commodity rules.
  • Operates material handling equipment safely according to TX laws.
  • Keeps processing area neat and clean.
  • Reports equipment and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Completes required paperwork daily (logs, inspections).
  • Maintains cooperative relationships with team members.
