Job summary

The Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation, organization, and maintenance of the CAPS warehouse in Seattle, Washington. This role serves as the primary contact for warehouse operations, ensuring inventory is accurately received, stored, maintained, and distributed to support commercial fishing vessel operations.

  • One or more years of experience in warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, logistics, or inventory management.
  • Experience operating pallet jacks; forklift experience preferred.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with vessel crews, vendors, freight carriers, and internal staff.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn inventory management and purchasing software.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the warehouse, loading dock, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Organize and label storage locations to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of parts and supplies.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the warehouse and report facility, equipment, or safety concerns.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities and condition against purchase orders and shipping documentation.
  • Investigate and document damaged shipments, shortages, or inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventories.
  • Process warranty returns and damaged product claims.
  • Prepare, palletize, and stage parts and supplies for shipment to Dutch Harbor and other remote operating locations.
  • Coordinate outbound shipments with freight carriers and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Deliver and retrieve parts from local suppliers using a company vehicle.
  • Safely operate company pickup trucks and flatbed vehicles throughout the Puget Sound region.
  • Support vessel maintenance activities by ensuring timely availability of parts and supplies.
  • Board vessels as necessary to coordinate delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Support the Purchasing Manager by placing routine purchase orders for standard inventory items and operational supplies.
  • Monitor purchase order status and communicate delivery updates.
  • Coordinate local supplier pickups and deliveries.
  • Maintain purchasing records, receipts, and documentation.

SUMMARY

The Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation, organization, and maintenance of the Coastal Alaska Premier Seafoods (CAPS) warehouse in Seattle, Washington. This position serves as the primary point of contact for warehouse operations, ensuring inventory is accurately received, stored, maintained, and distributed in support of commercial fishing vessel operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES-
Warehouse Operations
  • Maintain the warehouse, loading dock, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Organize and label storage locations to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of parts and supplies.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the warehouse and report facility, equipment, or safety concerns.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Primary work location is the CAPS warehouse in Seattle, WA
  • Regular time driving a company-owned flatbed truck within the Puget Sound area for parts pickup and delivery
  • Seasonal periods of increased workload and on-call availability aligned with commercial fishing operations
  • Regular visits to vessels at dock or in shipyard; must be comfortable working in marine environments
  • On-call availability during active fishing seasons, with expectations communicated at the time of hire.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting commercial fishing, maritime, marine maintenance, or industrial operations.
  • Experience with Enterprise systems, inventory software, or warehouse management systems.
  • Knowledge of freight coordination to Alaska or other remote locations.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification upon hire).
  • Mechanical aptitude or familiarity with marine parts and equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this role:

  • Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Operate warehouse equipment and company vehicles safely.
  • Board commercial fishing vessels and navigate ladders, gangways, uneven surfaces, and confined spaces.
  • Possess close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Maintain situational awareness and safely perform duties in active warehouse and marine environments.
