Job description

SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, procurement and shipment of parts and supplies for various CAPS operations daily. Under the direction of the Port engineer and Sr. Purchasing coordinator, This Position will be involved in many aspects of CAPS and CVRF operations and will be responsible for but not limited to warehouse operations, including managing receiving and inventory. This position will utilize the Tero Marine purchasing program. In addition to purchasing, this position will assist Around the Property with various manual tasks. Other responsibilities include handling PO tracking, vendor management, shipping and freight arrangements, and coordination of inventory levels with all vessels and vehicles in the fleet.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate with Port Engineer and Vessels in regards to purchasing of parts and supplies for commercial fishing vessels. Issue and track purchase orders, review & fulfill requisitions.
  • Coordinate shipping of parts and supplies to various Alaska ports while understanding difficulties per location and time sensitive needs as per freight type (air vs ocean vs usps) choice.
  • Coordinate ordering and delivery of shipyard requisitions for each vessel while in shipyard, monitor daily parts deliveries, Runner to retrieve urgent and will call part needs throughout the greater Seattle area.
  • Property tasks: yard walk abouts daily, open/close boom as needed, arrange property services like window washers, carpet cleaners, General maintenance as instructed by Port Engineer.
  • Manage CAPS warehouse, re-organize warehouse for better storage solutions for parts per vessel.
  • Liaison between Anchorage/Seattle offices and vessels in tracking purchases in Tero Marine software.
  • Certified Forklift driver.
  • Property management classes: Hazwoper, SY competent, Crane certified, forklift certified.
  • Must be willing to work on call hours during fishing season for purchasing.
  • Dock cleaning of debris and empty all garbage cans once per week and more as needed.
  • Coordinate with Port Engineer Vehicle maintenance for all Coastal vehicles in Seattle and Dutch Harbor including Tabs and insurance tracking.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Some experience in a purchasing/shipping and receiving environment for procurement of parts and supplies preferred. Forklift Certificate and boaters card Required. Candidates must possess the ability to represent the company in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing. Experience in Alaskan fisheries is preferred. Ideal candidates will be familiar with commercial fishing vendors and service providers in the Seattle area and will possess a strong understanding of commercial fishing vessels and their equipment. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required. Successful candidates must be highly organized with a positive "can do" attitude in a Team oriented environment. In order to perform successfully in this position, a candidate must demonstrate solid communication skills with the ability and demeanor to establish relationships with internal and external customers. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the willingness to be a team-oriented problem solver. Working knowledge and technical skills of MS Office Suite (specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook) is required, while experience with Tero Marine software is strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

In order to successfully perform the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to effectively remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, communicate with others in person and over the phone, and move about inside an office and warehouse. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and move in excess of 50 lbs. The employee is required to stand; walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and spend long hours outdoors re-mooring vessels as required. Ability to start and operate a skiff or small watercraft safely. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position also requires the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and fluorescent lighting. It requires the regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, as well as being required to operate a forklift in a safe manner. This position will also at times require extended travel around and outside of the Seattle Area. delivery parts to the vessels. The noise level in the work environment is subject to the task on hand. Must be able and willing to board vessels, move around in small spaces, climb stairs and ladders, and travel to rural Alaska via aircraft of varying sizes.
