The City of Monroe (NC) is seeking a Warehouse Worker to perform intermediate clerical and semiskilled work in a warehouse setting. The position involves heavy lifting, equipment operation, and a variety of tasks related to inventory management. Required qualifications include a valid driver's license and forklift operator’s license. This role requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform various physical tasks efficiently.
Performs intermediate clerical and semiskilled work in the operation of a warehouse; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor/Buyer.
This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and hazards.
Assisting with the operation of the warehouse; receiving, processing, distributing and accounting for materials and equipment; assisting with storeroom recordkeeping.
Prepares inventory order reports; follows up on outstanding orders with vendors;
Prepares requests for price and delivery quotations; evaluates responses; submits purchase orders based on quote results;
Issues materials and delivers stock to crew;
Receives shipments, unpacks and stores items; labels and finds location for new items;
Enforces storeroom rules and procedures and prevents unauthorized access to spaces;
Performs basic custodial, maintenance and repair tasks;
Assists with maintenance of storeroom equipment and systems;
Participates in periodic and special inventories;
Opens and closes warehouse;
Organizes stocks and merchandise;
Picks up parts and supplies at vendors, loads and unloads truck orders;
Performs related tasks as required.
General knowledge of modern storeroom and inventory practices; some knowledge of personal computer operation and ability to use associated software; ability to count and inspect a variety of stores and materials accurately and thoroughly; ability to drive light automotive equipment including a forklift; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates; ability to follow oral and written instructions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School/GED and moderate experience operating warehouse equipment.
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina. Possession of forklift operator’s license.
