Job summary

Peabody Energy is seeking a Warehouse Clerk for the Shoal Creek Mine in Oakman, Alabama. The role involves daily data entry, inventory control, requisition processing, and shipping documentation.

You will operate forklifts and coordinate with vendors and supervisors, while maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant warehouse environment. The position requires high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and 1–3 years of warehouse experience in a mining operation is preferred.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Warehouse Clerk to join our warehouse team at the Shoal Creek Mine, located in Oakman, Alabama. The mine has a safety-first culture and aims for zero recordable MSHA injuries/incidents. Shoal Creek Mine is one of the deepest underground coal mines in the United States and produces high-quality met coal. It features nine-foot-tall workings, a brand-new longwall, and more than 15 years of projected coal reserves.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic data entry in the material system and complete warehousing functions including processing, receiving, issuing supplies, stocking the warehouse, maintaining inventory controls, loading and unloading supplies, keeping the warehouse clean and organized, and preparing shipping documents.
• Enter requisitions for purchasing items for the warehouse.
• Post goods receipts for material that has been delivered.
• Safely operate forklifts and mobile equipment.
• Maintain a clean, stocked to budget, and organized warehouse.
• Maintain the core report.
• Prepare items to be shipped for repair.
• Work the MRP workbench for inventory repair items.
• Minimize backorders.
• Perform cycle counts.
• Confirm all required invoicing (workflow).
• Validate warranty.
• Complete material data entry.
• Receive, process, and issue supplies.
• Maintain inventory controls.
• Prepare shipping documents.
• Communicate and coordinate with co-workers, vendors, and supervisors.
• Assist other areas as needed.

Shift Schedule

The hours for this shift are 6:00 pm - 6:00 am, working 4 nights on, then four nights off. This position may also require overtime work, weekends, holidays and other shifts as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Possess a current, valid driver’s license.
• 1-3 years’ experience in warehouse operations at a mining operation (preferred).
• Hoist Operator certification (desirable).
• Must receive clearance to be an approved explosives possessor by the ATF.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of State and Federal mining regulations pertaining to surface operations at an underground coal mine.
• Working experience with material handling equipment and practices (forklifts, load securing techniques, etc.).
• Experience identifying parts required for mining operations is a plus.
• Experience maintaining inventory records including issues, receipts, backorders, delivery tickets, etc. (preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Office. SAP, Success Factors, and Kronos knowledge is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for long durations of time.
• Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, or bend without issues.
• Be able to work in varying work conditions (heat, cold, dust, rain, etc.).
• Must wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by the company and MSHA.
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs on a regular basis.
• Must climb on and off equipment and ladders.
• Must have vision for close-up computer work as well as distance vision.
• Must perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle) and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand-to-eye coordination.

Office Physical Requirements

• Must perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing.
• Must move from place to place within an office environment.
• Must be able to use a computer.
• Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands.
