Photon Brothers in San Luis Obispo, CA is hiring a Warehouse Associate & Permit Technician to manage incoming solar equipment, maintain inventory, and prepare permit applications. The role is split 50/50 between warehouse duties and permit coordination with field teams and AHJs.

You will lift up to 50 lbs, operate warehouse equipment, and support R&R projects while tracking permit progress and maintaining filing systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a warehouse, permitting, or administrative support role (solar or construction industry a plus).
• Proficiency in Google Workspace.
• Strong communication, proactiveness, and organizational skills.
• Ability to research questions and find answers independently and with urgency.
• Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Warehouse Associate (50%): Receive, inspect, and inventory incoming solar equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Organize and maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety standards.
• Pull and stage materials for solar installation crews based on project schedules.
• Coordinate delivery or pickup of equipment with field teams.
• Track and report damaged or missing inventory.
• Assist in loading/unloading vehicles using forklifts or pallet jacks as needed.
• Monitor and reorder low stock inventory to ensure material availability.
• Support service and R&R projects by organizing necessary hardware.
• Prepare and submit permit applications to local AHJs and track progress.
• Maintain organized filing system of permits and inspection documents.
• Communicate with customers, project managers, and utility companies regarding inspection scheduling and requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers and design teams to ensure permit packages are complete and code compliant.

Position Overview: This position will be based out of our San Luis Obispo, CA location.

Job Responsibilities

Warehouse Associate (50%)

• Prepare and submit permit applications to local AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction)

• Maintain an organized digital and physical filing system of all permits and inspection documents
• Communicate with customers, project managers, and utility companies regarding inspection scheduling and requirements
• Coordinate with engineers and design teams to ensure permit packages are complete and code compliant
• Maintain a thorough understanding of local codes and jurisdiction specific requirements

Permit Technician (50%)

• Prepare and submit permit applications to local AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction)

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a warehouse, permitting, or administrative support role (solar or construction industry a plus)
• Proficiency in Google Workspace

• Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Comfortable working in a fast paced, team oriented environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate warehouse equipment safely
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Pay for this position is $23 to $27 per hour. This full-time role is eligible to participate in health (one plan is less than $35 per pay check!), dental, and vision insurance. Photon Brothers also offers a 401k with match, as well as company-sponsored life insurance and telehealth. Paid holidays and PTO are also offered with this position.
