Job summary

Photon Brothers in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a reliable, organized individual for a part-time permitting/administrative role. You will support solar installations through timely and accurate permitting, prepare and submit permit applications, and coordinate with engineers, customers, and utilities to ensure compliance and approvals.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in permitting or admin, strong Google Workspace skills, and excellent communication and organization.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of permitting or administrative support experience in solar or construction is preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work independently and with urgency.
• Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Comfortable in a fast paced, team oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit permit applications to local AHJs.
• Track permit progress and follow up with jurisdictions for timely approvals.
• Maintain organized filing of permits and inspection documents.
• Communicate with customers, PMs, and utilities about inspection scheduling and requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers and design teams to ensure permit packages are complete and code compliant.
• Maintain understanding of local codes and jurisdiction requirements.
• Perform other permitting and interconnection tasks as needed.

Position Overview:

This position will be based out of our San Luis Obispo, CA location.

We are seeking a reliable, organized, and detail oriented individual to join our team in a part time capacity. This role is essential to our operations team, supporting solar installations through timely and accurate permitting processes.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit permit applications to local AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction)
• Track permit progress and proactively follow up with jurisdictions to ensure timely approvals
• Maintain an organized digital and physical filing system of all permits and inspection documents
• Communicate with customers, project managers, and utility companies regarding inspection scheduling and requirements
• Coordinate with engineers and design teams to ensure permit packages are complete and code compliant
• Maintain a thorough understanding of local codes and jurisdiction specific requirements
• Other permitting and interconnection tasks as required

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a permitting or administrative support role (solar or construction industry a plus)
• Proficiency in Google Workspace
• Strong communication, proactiveness, and organizational skills
• Ability to research questions and find answers independently and with urgency
• Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Comfortable working in a fast paced, team oriented environment

Pay for this position is $23 to $28 per hour, depending on experience.

• This role is eligible for free Teladoc (general medical and mental health) sessions.

This role will be posted until September 25, 2026 at a minimum, or until the role is filled.
