Job summary

Fence Direct in Orlando, FL is hiring a Warehouse Associate – Forklift Operator. You will load and stage material, pull orders for customers and crews, and prepare shipments for delivery.

This full-time, on-site role requires operating a propane sit-down forklift, reading tape measures, and ensuring inventory accuracy while keeping the warehouse clean and organized in Florida heat.

Compensation ranges from $18 to $19 per hour based on experience, with benefits and steady year-round work.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a propane sit-down forklift.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
• Forklift certification is a plus.
• Previous warehouse, lumber yard, or building-supply experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly.
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Spanish-English bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

A Day in the Life

Your morning starts by loading the installation crews so they can get on the road. Next you’ll pull and stage orders for customer pickups and deliveries, then receive the day’s vendor shipments and get them stocked. You’ll finish by setting up the next day’s loads. The pace is busy and hands-on, and no two days are exactly alike.

What You’ll Do

• Operate a propane sit-down forklift safely to load, unload, move, and stage material
• Pull and prepare customer and crew orders accurately (vinyl, aluminum, wood, and chain link fencing, posts, gates, hardware, and concrete)
• Read a tape measure and cut lists to confirm sizes, lengths, and quantities
• Receive vendor deliveries, check them against packing slips, and report shortages or damage
• Stock, rotate, and organize inventory so everything is easy to find
• Load installation crew trucks and trailers and stage material for pickups and deliveries
• Help with dispatch: coordinate the timing of loads, pickups, and deliveries with the office and the crews
• Help customers who come in to pick up material
• Help with inventory counts and keep stock records accurate
• Keep the warehouse and yard clean, safe, and organized

What We’re Looking For

• Experience operating a propane sit-down forklift
• Forklift certification is a plus
• Able to read a tape measure accurately and do basic math
• Previous warehouse, lumber yard, building supply, or material handling experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail, because accurate orders matter to us
• Reliable and on time, with a good work ethic and a team-player attitude
• Able to lift and carry 50+ lbs repeatedly (posts, panels, bags of concrete)
• Comfortable working outdoors in Florida heat and weather
• Able to communicate clearly with coworkers, crews, and customers (bilingual English/Spanish is a plus)
• Valid driver’s license preferred

What Gets You to the Top of the Pay Range

Candidates with forklift certification, building supply or fence material experience, inventory or dispatch experience, and a strong reliability record will start at the higher end of the range.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, plus some Saturdays 8:00am–4:00pm
