Description

Under the day-to-day direction of the Parts Department Supervisor, the Parts Department Associate performs a variety of functions necessary to accurately and efficiently fulfill customer orders. Responsibilities include pulling and verifying parts, packing and shipping orders, assembling kits, preparing truck shipments, and returning products to inventory.

The employee must be able to perform each function within the department as operational needs require while maintaining high standards for accuracy, safety, quality, organization, and customer service.

Requirements

  • Pull parts accurately and efficiently according to priorities established by the Parts Coordinator or supervisor.
  • Review orders for special instructions, including customer pickup, priority status, special handling, and unusual items.
  • Confirm each part by matching the item number and description to the sales order or pick ticket.
  • Deliver pulled orders to the designated verifier for confirmation of item accuracy, quantity, and completeness.
  • Verify orders for shipment as assigned.
  • Notify the supervisor when inventory is low or when parts are missing, damaged, incorrectly located, or mislabeled.
  • Return products and unused materials to their correct inventory locations.
  • Select, assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, and other shipping containers.
  • Obtain and organize products according to sales-order specifications.
  • Wrap and protect products to help ensure they arrive at their destination undamaged.
  • Inspect products, materials, and containers throughout the packing process for accuracy, quality, and damage.
  • Label and prepare completed packages for shipment.
  • Place completed packages in the designated shipping or conveyor area for final processing.
  • Prepare and complete truck shipments according to established procedures.
  • Assist with shipping documentation and computer transactions as needed.
  • Assemble and verify kits according to bill of materials (BOM) specifications and work instructions.
  • Locate, identify, and pull the correct parts listed on the order or BOM.
  • Accurately document all materials pulled and used.
  • Build, bag, tag, label, and package kits according to company standards and customer requirements.
  • Return completed kits and unused components to the appropriate inventory locations.
  • Report low inventory and any missing, damaged, or mislabeled parts to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Keep warehouse aisles and storage locations neat and free of cardboard, plastic, debris, and other hazards.
  • Sweep assigned rows and work areas as needed.
  • Follow all company safety rules, work instructions, quality procedures, and shipping requirements.
  • Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, inventory concerns, and workplace injuries to the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain positive and professional working relationships with employees, customers, and internal departments.
  • Support coworkers and other Parts Department functions as business needs require.
  • Complete special assignments and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous warehouse, parts, inventory, order fulfillment, packing, shipping, or manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to accurately count and verify quantities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to use company systems to look up parts, review orders, and enter data.
  • Ability to organize work, follow established priorities, and complete assignments on time.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to complete company-required powered industrial truck training and successfully pass the written and driving evaluations when required.
  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, grasp, and climb.
  • Demonstrate the manual dexterity and motor coordination needed to handle parts, assemble kits, operate equipment, and prepare shipments.
  • Regularly lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment where noise, dust, temperature changes, moving equipment, and other typical industrial conditions may be present.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all applicable safety requirements.
