Job summary

S and J Plumbing in Arlington Heights is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator to support our growth. You will manage truck stock, coordinate vendor relationships, and ensure timely material flow for service teams, while maintaining a safe and organized warehouse.

This role rewards proactive problem solving, strong negotiation, and disciplined budgeting. Proficiency with Service Titan and MS Office is required, with a focus on accuracy, cost savings, and dependable

Responsibilities

• Manage truck inventory and warehouse stock, including cycle counts and full counts.

The Role

You will be contributing to the company’s plan by always looking for ways to improve technician efficiency by having the proper truck stock, limited warehouse stock outs, accurate inventory counts, and efficient part runner dispatching. You will ensure that we are able to accomplish our growth plans by having new vehicles onsite and ready for new staff as they come onboard. You will ensure that our vendor relationships are strong and a win for both parties. You will maintain a safe and accountable workplace.

Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of Service Titan for inventory management

• Negotiate vendor pricing

• Buyback program for excess inventory, as needed

• Maintainprocess for accountability of techs for truck inventory

• Maintainthe truck stocking/bin layout mapping

• Optimize parts request process

• Asset tracking (tools and vehicles) – tying to depreciation schedule

• Maintain up to date material pricing in Service Titan

• Maintainthe vehicle procurement and disposal process

• Use knowledge of supply house product offering, best price, strengths and locations to maximize efficiency and save the company money

• Meet individual goals and KPI’s

• Maintain annual budget, control expenses and meet or exceed plan

• Meetperformance requirementsto ensure that accuracy and safety goals are met

• Participate inweekly 1 v 1 meetings

• Participatein 100-day plans, including follow up during weekly 1 v 1

Purchasing

• Maintainmaterial return process

• Maintainwarranty return process

• Maintainprocess to return excess materials from jobs

• Maintainpurchase order process and material receiving process

• Assist in product and material research for technicians

• Manage next day installs and installs in general, with regards to material and equipment staging and materials fulfillment

Fleet/Truck Stock

• Maintaintruck inventory cycle count and full count process

• Maintainnew truck inventory set up process

• Maintaintruck replenishment process

• Manage staff fielding calls from tech/install crews on materials needed for jobs. Facilitating the best place to source and use warehouse staff to deliver. Then coordinate deliveries to and from job sites

• Vehicle maintenance – tracking, scheduling, maintenance, and repairs

Tools

• Manage tool maintenance and repairs

• Maintaintool and equipment check in/out process

Warehouse/Safety

• Maintainwarehousemaximize efficiency to streamline operations

• Ensures warehouse is neat & clean

• Maintainwarehouse inventory process for full and cycle counts

• Maintainwarehouse replenishment process

• Conduct regularsafety inspections. Maintaintech PPE, and overall safety within the warehouse

Competencies for Success

• You should have experience in supply chain, operations, and inventory management

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

• Self-starter/resourceful - able to independently work, learn and plan with minimal guidance to drive tasks to conclusion

• Experience with inventory management software

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with different company departments
