Job summary

Potomac Floral Wholesale in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a warehouse associate to help read orders, pick and pack items, and support shipping operations. You will move materials, assist in inventory, and ensure a safe, organized warehouse environment. The role requires physical lifting up to 50 pounds and working weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist with order picking, packing, and display.
• Read customer orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, packed, and either shipped, delivered, or picked up.
• Move materials and items to shipping or designated areas for packing and distribution.
• Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic.
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves.
• Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, and distributing to sales associates.
• Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
• Assist in counting of physical inventory.
• May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed.
• Sweep, dust and mop to maintain orderliness.
• Responsible for product quality control, rotation, and inventory.
• Maintain a system of marking boxes for aging and rotation.
• Adhere to a schedule of which flowers to put in water and when.
• Regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds; occasionally more than 100 pounds.

About Potomac Floral Wholesale

Potomac Floral Wholesale is a well-established and rapidly growing company located near the heart of Silver Spring, MD. Our spacious warehouse is home to a plethora of different flowers, plants and, floral supplies. As a team member, you will join a group of friendly people who believe in the individual commitment to a group effort. As a PFW associate, there are a variety of jobs you can be trained in and asked to do. These include reading customer orders, picking and packing orders, sorting items, loading and unloading trucks, quality control, inventory, and helping to maintain a safe work environment at all times. Some duties may require the use of a bunch cutter, stem remover, lifting of heavy objects, and exposure to cold storage temperatures as low as 40 degrees. You will be expected to have an understanding of all aspects of your role and follow specific safety and quality guidelines.

Duties

• Assist with order picking, packing, and display
• Read customer orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, packed, and either shipped, delivered, or picked up
• Move materials and items from receiving cooler or storage cooler areas to shipping or to other designated areas for packing and distribution
• Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocate orders to a holding area or shipping department
• Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders and distributing to sales associates for processing
• Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method
• Assist in counting of physical inventory
• May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed
• Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times
• Responsible for product quality control, rotation, and inventory
• Maintain a system of marking boxes for aging and rotation
• Accurate inventory reporting: personally checking big changes reported
• Adhere to a schedule of which flowers to put in water and when
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds
