Job summary

Rain is building the next generation of wallet infrastructure with custodial and non-custodial architectures. You will architect secure, scalable systems for custody, key management, signing, and recovery, while guiding policy and security practices.

You will influence architecture from first principles, shaping how keys and authorization work across multi-chain wallets, MPC, and hardware-backed security. Flexible, hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in wallet, custody, cryptography, or security infrastructure.
• Experience designing production wallet, custody, signing, or key management systems.
• Strong knowledge of applied cryptography (MPC, threshold cryptography, ECDSA/EdDSA).
• Experience with hardware-backed key isolation and security-critical infrastructure.
• Understanding of EOAs, smart contract wallets, account abstraction, ERC-4337, multichain systems.
• Ability to make high-leverage architectural decisions in distributed systems.
• Ability to form strong technical opinions and own architecture from first principles.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of Rain’s wallet infrastructure for custody, key management, signing, authorization, and recovery.
• Design signing infrastructure supporting MPC, HSMs, secure enclaves, TEEs, and emerging cryptographic approaches.
• Build wallet systems across EOAs, smart contract wallets, account abstraction, ERC-4337, embedded wallets, and multichain infra.
• Define interactions between keys, signing authority, policies, permissions, and authorization.
• Architect key management systems including generation, distribution, rotation, backup, recovery, and hardware-backed isolation.
• Build highly available signing and transaction infrastructure with developer-friendly APIs.
• Set the technical direction for wallet security, including threat modeling, secrets management, and authentication.
• Evaluate build-vs-buy across cryptography, custody, wallet, and security infrastructure.
