Job summary

Heather Ridge Pet Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a Urgent Care Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in walk-in urgent care, triage, diagnostics, treatment, and discharge. This role requires solid technical skills, clear client communication, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Candidates should have an RVT credentialing or eligibility, plus experience in emergency or high-volume practice; scheduling includes Monday through Thursday

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from an accredited Veterinary Technology program required.
• Current or eligible veterinary technician credentialing per South Dakota requirements; Fear Free certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with prompt patient intake and triage with accurate history and vital signs.
• Support stabilization and treatment of urgent patients, including venipuncture, IV access, medications, and wound care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation; communicate changes promptly to the veterinarian.
• Coordinate patient flow and assist with opening/closing duties as needed.
• Provide updates to clients and involve the veterinarian for decisions when needed.
