Job summary

Weatherly Inn in Tacoma, WA seeks a friendly Waitstaff to provide attentive dining service to residents, set and reset tables, and keep dining areas clean and welcoming. You will work with the food service team to support daily meals and special dietary needs in a memory-care focused community.

The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, 1 year in food service preferred, and certification such as a Food Handler card. Training on dementia care is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in food service.
• Food Handlers certificate within 14 days.
• Dementia Training within 90 days.
• Proficient in resident care and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Report to work on time in proper attire; prepared for pre-meal briefing.
• Serve residents in assigned areas; assist other areas when time permits.
• Clean and set tables, vacuum or mop dining areas; pick up items from floor.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all dining service areas according to schedule.
• Learn residents' special needs and report changes to nursing staff.
• Follow all policies in Employee Handbook and Performance Expectations.
• Report unsafe conditions or needed repairs to maintenance or supervisor.
• Immediately report any on-the-job injuries.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Overview

The Waitstaff ensures a positive dining experience for all residents by providing attentive service, maintaining clean and organized dining areas, and supporting overall food service operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Report to work on time in proper attire, with clean hands and nails, prepared for pre-meal briefing

• Serve residents in assigned areas; assist other areas when time permits

• Clean and set tables, vacuum or mop dining areas, and pick up loose items from the floor

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all dining service areas according to schedule

• Learn the special needs of residents and report any changes in behavior to nursing staff

• Follow all policies in the Employee Handbook and Performance Expectations

• Report unsafe conditions or needed repairs to maintenance or supervisor

• Immediately report any on-the-job injuries

• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old (if under 18, a Minor Work Permit is required)

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Minimum 1 year of experience in food service preferred

• Food Handlers certificate (within 14 days) and Dementia Training (within 90 days) required

• Proficient in resident care, customer service, teamwork, and maintaining a positive attitude

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 lbs and carry 35 lbs

• Frequent standing, walking, squatting, bending, and repetitive arm/hand movements

• Ability to push 250 lbs in a wheelchair or cart
