Job summary

Ventana by Buckner in Dallas, TX is seeking a Waitstaff to join our senior living community and deliver outstanding hospitality to residents. The role involves taking orders, describing menu items, and coordinating with the kitchen and service team to ensure timely service.

You will be expected to maintain Buckner Service Standards, handle payments accurately, and assist with side-work while supporting coworkers in a fast-paced dining environment.

Qualifications

• Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
• Ability to read, write and understand business documents in English.
• Ability to communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers.
• Able to follow basic written and oral instructions.
• Ability to move food serving and preparation equipment up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
• Ability to stand, walk and assist as part of a dining team for most of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay to kitchen via POS.
• Serve food and beverages in a timely manner in collaboration with team.
• Handle cash, balance cash register and process payments accurately.
• Adhere to Buckner Service Standards and maintain dining area cleanliness.
• Perform side-work duties and support coworkers to deliver hospitality.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff.

Buckner Retirement Services Community: Ventana by Buckner Location: Dallas, TX - Onsite Address: 8301 N Central Expy, Dallas, TX 75225 Job Schedule : Occasional / As Needed to Fill Shifts: Saturday evenings and Sunday from 9 to 3pm. Opportunity to pick up other evening shifts from 3p-8p.

What you'll do:

• Must be upbeat, courteous, and positive.
• Possesses great guest relation and communications skills.
• Deliver hospitality, enhance every guest experience.
• Be able to navigate through the menu, describe featured menu items. Demonstrate extensive menu knowledge.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders. Be able to send orders to kitchen accurately through the point of sales system. Partner with all associates to serve food and beverages in a timely manner.
• Cash handling, including, but not limited to counting and balancing cash register. Ensure all payments are processed timely, accurately, and correctly. Maintain the confidentiality of guest information.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and work well with others.
• Must be able to adhere to our Buckner Service Standards.
• Responsible for all side-work duties assigned and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all dining areas, some kitchen areas.
• Work successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.

What you ’ll bring :

• Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English; ability to read, write and understand business documents which are written in English.
• Requires ability to effectively communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Requires ability to make self clearly understood by others.
• Requires ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions.
• Requires ability to move food serving and preparation equipment as needed, using up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
• Work deals mostly with objects, equipment and/or machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are of some importance.
• Requires ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, handle, stand, and walk over 75% of shift.
• Requires ability to safely utilize kitchen equipment and recognize differences in sound generated by equipment or machinery which may indicate operation problems or safety concerns.
• Requires ability to work under close supervision performing routine, standardized tasks.
• Requires ability to perform tasks with due consideration for residents in vicinity and ability to cooperate and work with other employees.
• Requires ability to learn basic food serving, cleanliness and sanitation requirements.
