We are hiring immediately for full- and part-time WAITER/WAITRESS positions at Case Western Reserve University located at 11038 Bellflower Road, Cleveland, OH 44106. The role requires one year of previous serving experience and offers a fixed pay rate of $12.00 per hour. An internal employee referral bonus is available.

Job Summary

The selected candidate will take food and beverage orders and efficiently deliver items to dining room guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room; take food and beverages in an efficient manner, following established steps of service.
• Deliver food promptly and professionally; maintain safe food‑handling and sanitation standards. Follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests.
• Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and ingredients; advise guests on combinations of food and drinks when requested; accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences.
• Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
• Communicate directly with back‑of‑house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated.
• Exhibit exceptional communication skills and demonstrate ability to get along well with others; remain flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff.
• Collect tickets and follow proper cash‑handling procedures.
• Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
• Maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information shared.
• Promptly address complaints or issues; relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor.
• Ensure the dining room is properly set up before and after the service period; keep area clean and meet sanitation standards.
• Operate a variety of equipment, including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
• Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

One year of previous serving experience is required. Qualified candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
