Job summary

Markent Personnel represents a prominent AmLaw 100 international law firm seeking a Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to support the California practice in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The role focuses on wage and hour class actions and complex employment disputes, with a hybrid in-office schedule (4 days/week).

Ideal candidates have a JD from a top-tier law school, California bar in good standing, 3–5 years of substantive employment litigation experience, and strong research and writing

Qualifications

• JD from a top-tier law school with excellent academic record.
• Active California Bar admission in good standing.
• 3–5 years of substantive employment litigation experience.
• Extensive experience defending wage and hour claims, including class actions.
• Strong legal research and writing skills with the ability to produce high-quality work.
• Experience drafting key legal documents and managing discovery.
• Desire for trial work.
• Ability to work in a team-focused, high-performance environment.
• Commitment to exceptional client service and maintaining strong professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex employment litigation matters, including the defense of wage & hour claims and wage & hour class actions.
• Draft and refine pleadings, motions, class certification briefs, and related filings.
• Participate in trials and contribute to trial preparation work.
• Manage and oversee discovery, including written discovery, document review, and deposition preparation.
• Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys across the firm's CA offices to develop litigation strategies.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on evolving class action issues.
• Maintain clear, client-ready communication and deliver practical guidance.
