Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, real estate, energy, construction management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of utility development, power infrastructure, or related experience.
  • Experience leading utility strategy for large, complex projects with significant electrical load.
  • Understanding of utility service processes, transmission/ distribution, interconnection, and risk.
  • Experience negotiating utility-facing agreements and project docs.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional coordination.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation abilities.
  • Ability to operate independently in fast-moving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead utility development strategy for assigned projects and regions, including power availability, interconnection approach, delivery timing, and infrastructure risk management.
  • Manage utility-facing workstreams from origination through execution, including diligence, feasibility review, commercial negotiations, and coordination.
  • Drive electrical infrastructure planning with utilities, consultants, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiation support for utility-related agreements, including interconnection and electric service agreements.
  • Coordinate with development, legal, design, finance, and executive teams to align utility strategy with project objectives.
  • Identify schedule, cost, regulatory, and execution risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Support market selection and site diligence by evaluating utility capacity, terms, and upgrade risks.
  • Build and maintain relationships with utilities, regulators, co-ops, public power entities, and market participants.
  • Manage outside consultants and advisory support for load studies, interconnection, and related workstreams.
  • Mentor junior team members and scale utility development processes and standards.
