Job summary

Jobgether SRL is partnering with a health insurance organization to hire a Vice President of Underwriting in the United States. This senior leadership role shapes underwriting strategy, risk management, and profitability across fully insured and self-funded plans, stop-loss, ancillary, and specialty products.

You will lead teams, drive pricing discipline, and ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with Sales, Actuarial, Finance, Claims, and Leadership to balance growth with disciplined

Qualifications

• Deep experience with both self-funded and fully insured health plan underwriting.
• Strong knowledge of stop-loss, level-funded, ancillary, and specialty insurance products.
• Proven underwriting P&L responsibility and financial performance management.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulations and insurance compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an enterprise underwriting strategy aligned with growth, profitability, and risk management objectives.
• Establish underwriting guidelines, risk tolerance frameworks, pricing methodologies, and governance standards.
• Oversee profitability and loss ratio performance across relevant lines of business.
• Maintain pricing integrity for medical plans, stop-loss, ancillary, and specialty products.
• Monitor underwriting metrics including hit ratios, margin performance, risk scoring accuracy, and renewal outcomes.
• Partner with Actuarial and Finance on rate setting, forecasting, and financial performance.
• Lead and scale underwriting teams across new business, renewals, large and small group functions.
• Improve workflows, automation, analytics, and operational processes to boost accuracy and efficiency.
• Drive continuous improvement to strengthen turnaround times and consistency across regions.
