Job summary

Avantus is seeking a Sr. Director or Vice President, Business Development to own the growth strategy across multiple technologies in California and the Desert Southwest.

You will lead acquisitions, partnerships, and market-entry plans, work with cross-functional teams including Development, Legal, and Finance, and report to the Chief Development Officer.

The role is hybrid in California with a base salary range of $199,454 to $250,000 plus bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Construction Management or related field.
• Master's degree/MBA preferred.
• Strong technical understanding of transmission infrastructure, grid interconnection processes, and generation technologies.
• FERC, NERC, ISO/RTO market structures familiarity (CAISO, WECC, PJM).
• Experience sourcing opportunities and structuring early-stage partnerships, JVs or M&A adjacent transactions.
• Proven track record of closing complex deals in a fast-growth environment.
• Excellent communication and strategic planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the company’s growth strategy and identify strategic gaps and market opportunities.
• Lead the strategic growth plan across multiple technologies (PV, storage, wind, transmission, data centers).
• Source, evaluate, and lead due diligence on acquisition opportunities.
• Coordinate with Development, Finance and Legal to align strategy with capital allocation and deal structures.
• Prepare Investment Committee recommendations and engage with executive leadership.
