Job description

Position Summary:

The VP, RTP Business Product Management plays a key leadership role in shaping the future of real-time payments at The Clearing House. Reporting to the Head of RTP, this leader translates market needs and enterprise strategy into differentiated RTP products, capabilities, and use cases that expand adoption and deliver measurable value for financial institutions and their customers. The VP has broad responsibility for specific market segments and ownership of assigned products, or capabilities, across the lifecycle - from market discovery and business case development through prioritization, launch, commercialization, adoption, and ongoing optimization.

Operating within a Pragmatic Product Management framework, the VP brings together customer insight, data, and deep payments expertise to identify the right problems to solve and turn them into clear product strategies and market outcomes. This highly visible role works across Business Product Management, Technical Product Management, Sales, Client Relationship Management, Marketing, Technology & Operations, and Risk & Compliance, while engaging directly with financial institutions, corporate users, technology providers, and industry stakeholders. The successful candidate will combine strategic product leadership with strong commercial instincts and the ability to move complex initiatives from insight to market impact while maintaining and integrating a strong first line of defense risk mindset.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Translate the RTP strategy into market-driven product plans and roadmaps for assigned market segments, capabilities, and use cases, grounded in validated customer and market needs.

  • Lead assigned RTP products through the full lifecycle, including discovery, business case development, detailed requirements, prioritization, launch, commercialization, adoption, enhancement, and end-of-life decisions.

  • Drive market discovery and customer engagement with financial institutions, corporate users, technology providers, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities, validate problems, and shape differentiated solutions.

  • Develop clear product positioning, value propositions, launch approaches, and enablement in partnership with Sales, Client Relationship Management, Marketing, and other commercialization partners.

  • Use market, customer, product, volume, and financial data to establish priorities, inform investment decisions, monitor adoption and performance, and recommend actions that improve business outcomes.

  • Partner closely with RTP Technical Product Management, Technology & Operations, and other delivery teams to ensure business requirements and market priorities are clearly articulated and translated into high-quality solutions.

  • Lead cross-functional product initiatives, pilots, proofs of concept, and launch readiness activities, creating clarity on decisions, milestones, dependencies, risks, and expected outcomes.

  • Apply a first-line risk mindset throughout the entire product lifecycle including rules definition, compliance and enforcement. Partnering with Legal, Risk, and Compliance to identify and address product and market risks.

  • Track competitive, regulatory, technology, and industry developments in instant and faster payments and translate relevant insights into product and commercialization recommendations.

  • Represent The Clearing House and the RTP network in customer forums, committees, working groups, and internal governance discussions, communicating product strategy, priorities, performance, and recommendations with credibility.

  • Contribute to a disciplined, market-driven product management culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years of progressive product management experience, preferably in payments, banking, or financial services, with demonstrated leadership of complex product initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of payment products, operations, technology, and market dynamics; instant or faster payments experience strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and validate market needs, establish product priorities, develop business cases, and translate strategy into executable roadmaps and commercial outcomes.

  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to use product, customer, market, volume, and revenue data to drive decisions and measure performance.

  • Proven risk maturity to understand, articulate, manage and mitigate risks

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across business, technical, customer, and senior leadership audiences.

Qualifications Desired:
  • Knowledge of, or experience working within, the Pragmatic Product Management framework or a comparable market-driven product discipline.

  • Experience with product commercialization, go‑to‑market planning, positioning, sales enablement, and adoption strategies.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and navigating trade-offs among market opportunity, customer value, risk, technical feasibility, cost, and speed to market.

  • Experience engaging financial institutions, corporate users, technology providers, industry groups, or strategic partners.

  • Strong working knowledge of product analytics, reporting, presentation, and collaboration tools.
