A growing, physician-driven gastroenterology practice backed by private equity is looking for a Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management to lead its revenue cycle strategy and operations.
Reporting to the CFO, this leader will own the full revenue cycle — credentialing, prior auth, charge entry, coding, billing, collections, denials, and compliance — with a focus on the unique dynamics of GI billing, including endoscopy/colonoscopy coding, ASC facility billing, and anesthesia coordination.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- Ten or more years of progressive revenue cycle management experience, including five or more years of leadership experience at the Director level or above (VP experience preferred), overseeing physician receivables at a large, multi-specialty or multi-location practice or health system.
- New Jersey residency is required.
- Deep knowledge of physician revenue cycle operations, charge methodology, and billing and collection regulations.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) platforms; Athena experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead through data, translating financial and operational reporting into actionable strategy.
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, with experience working directly with physicians and C-suite leadership.
- Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) certification, such as Certified Specialist Physician Practice Management (CSPPM) or Executive of Healthcare Revenue Cycle (EHRC), preferred.
This is a high-visibility role with real influence on the financial trajectory of a rapidly growing organization.
What you’ll do:
- Set strategy and lead execution across the full revenue cycle, including credentialing, prior authorization, charge capture, billing, collections, and denials management.
- Collaborate with the private equity team, Chief Financial Officer, physician partner leadership, and the Managed Care team to shape payer strategy, contract compliance, and organizational goals.
- Build, coach, and manage a team of revenue cycle department leaders, setting clear key performance indicators and accountability structures.
- Own revenue cycle reporting to executive leadership, including accounts receivable trends, denial and write-off analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
- Drive reductions in days in accounts receivable and denial and adjustment rates through cross-functional process improvement.
- Lead evaluation and implementation of revenue cycle technology to help improve efficiency and reduce organizational risk.
- Support billing compliance with HIPAA, payer contracts, and state and federal regulations.
- Manage the revenue cycle department budget and resource planning.
