Job summary

First Bank Chicago, based in Northbrook, IL, seeks a VP for Private Banking to acquire and expand relationships with high-net-worth clients, family offices and business owners. You will deliver customized banking strategies, manage liquidity and lending needs, and drive portfolio growth through referrals.

You will collaborate across Banking, Treasury and Commercial teams, ensuring exceptional service and timely delivery of solutions, while representing the Bank at professional events and client

Job Details:

Job Location: Northbrook - NORTHBROOK, IL 60062, Position Type: Regular Full-Time, Salary Range: $134,000.00 - $160,000.00 Salary, Job Category: VP, This position reports to SVP/Managing Director of Private Banking.

Basic Function

Responsible for acquiring, developing and expanding relationships with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, family offices, foundations and other affluent clients.

Provides consultative guidance and customized banking strategies to help clients address complex banking, liquidity, lending and cash management needs while driving portfolio growth through new client acquisition, relationship expansion, deposit growth and referral generation.

Combines business development expertise, strong relationship management skills and exceptional client service to deliver meaningful value to clients and contribute to the continued growth of the Private Banking Group.

Position supports the SVP/Managing Director of Private Banking.

Essential Duties
Business Development & Relationship Growth
  • Actively acquire and develop new Private Banking relationships while contributing to deposit growth, loan growth, referral generation and overall portfolio expansion.
  • Build and maintain relationships with centers of influence, including attorneys, CPAs, family office professionals and other trusted advisors, to generate referral opportunities and expand the Bank's presence within the professional advisor community.
  • Partner with Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, Community Banking and other internal teams to identify referral opportunities, expand client relationships and deliver coordinated banking services.
  • Represent the Bank at community, charitable, networking and professional events to enhance the visibility, reputation and growth of the Private Banking Group. These activities may periodically take place outside of regular business hours.
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
  • Develop a thorough understanding of client financial objectives and identify opportunities to deliver deposit, liquidity management, lending, cash management and other banking services that strengthen and expand relationships.
  • Manage and grow existing client relationships by serving as a trusted advisor, providing proactive guidance, responsive service and ongoing relationship stewardship.
  • Prepare client proposals, presentations and required documentation to support new business development, relationship expansion and other client banking opportunities.
  • Support client relationships by coordinating banking needs and facilitating the timely resolution of service matters while delivering an exceptional client experience. Provide occasional support outside of normal banking hours.
Banking & Credit Responsibilities
  • Utilize banking product knowledge to coordinate account titling, FDIC insurance coverage, account ownership structures, deposit placement strategies and other banking solutions designed to support client liquidity and cash management objectives.
  • Coordinate consumer lending opportunities, gather required information, assist with credit package preparation and participate in loan closings.
Administration & Team Collaboration
  • Utilize the Bank's CRM system to maintain accurate call activity, pipeline management, referral tracking, campaign reporting and other business development documentation.
  • Participate in departmental and other internal meetings while maintaining a professional and collaborative approach in all interactions.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong business development, networking, relationship management and referral generation skills, with the ability to cultivate trusted relationships with clients, centers of influence and professional advisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to uncover client needs, identify opportunities and provide consultative recommendations to high-net-worth individuals, business owners, family offices, executives and other affluent clients.
  • Exceptional client service skills, with the ability to anticipate needs, exceed expectations and deliver a highly personalized banking experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of deposit, lending, liquidity and cash management solutions, along with a solid understanding of interest rates, economic trends and financial markets.
  • Working knowledge of banking regulations, compliance requirements and risk management principles.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality, discretion, professionalism, judgment and tact.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and responsiveness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Training & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum 7 years of banking experience, including relationship management, business development and consumer lending responsibilities.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, family offices, executives, professional advisors and other affluent clients preferred.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, financial statements, general accounting principles and tax considerations preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and experience with Fiserv or other banking applications preferred.
Compensation
  • Expected Salary Range: $134,000 - $160,000
  • Salary will be negotiated based on relevant skills and experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
