Job description

MAVERIQ is a private multi-family office serving a select group of families and entrepreneurs. We combine exceptional people, personalized service, and differentiated investment access to operate as an extension of each family’s team. Our relationships, specialized networks, and understanding of each family’s priorities allow us to deliver thoughtful, highly tailored solutions.

Work You’ll Do:

We are seeking a Vice President to join our Portfolio Management team in a senior, highly client-facing role spanning investment leadership, family office advisory, and relationship management. The ideal candidate combines investment expertise, exceptional interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a genuine commitment to serving individuals and families with complex financial lives. You will lead client relationships, oversee investment portfolios, and develop a deep understanding of each family’s circumstances, objectives, and priorities. You will anticipate needs and coordinate thoughtful solutions – whether developing an investment strategy, leading a complex financial initiative, or navigating a time-sensitive client matter with trusted advisors. Success in this role means becoming a trusted advisor known for investment judgment, confident leadership, responsive service, and consistent follow-through.

Key Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Leadership
  • Serve as a senior relationship contact for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, building trusted, long-term relationships.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of each family's financial circumstances, priorities, and multi-generational objectives.
  • Proactively anticipate client needs, identify emerging issues, and deliver thoughtful, practical solutions.
  • Lead client meetings, communicate investment recommendations, and guide clients through complex financial decisions with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Collaborate with clients' trusted advisors and senior firm leadership to ensure an exceptional client experience.
  • Develop and implement investment strategies and asset allocations aligned with client objectives, risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and investment horizons.
  • Oversee client portfolios across public and private markets, including portfolio construction, diversification, rebalancing, and management of concentrated exposures.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, manager recommendations, and portfolio positioning in collaboration with internal investment teams and external specialists.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, risk exposures, and liquidity, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance portfolio outcomes.
  • Present investment recommendations, portfolio reviews, and market insights to clients, translating complex investment concepts into clear, actionable advice.
  • Coordinate portfolio transitions, investment implementation, and trading activities while ensuring accurate and timely execution.
Comprehensive Family Office Advisory
  • Lead family office initiatives involving tax and estate planning, philanthropy, lending, insurance, and liquidity management.
  • Coordinate with clients and their advisors on wealth transfer strategies, trust structures, gifting programs, and multi-generational planning.
  • Oversee significant financial transactions, including private investments, lending arrangements, cash movements, and liquidity events.
  • Support concentrated stock management, 10b5-1 plans, asset protection strategies, and other specialized financial matters.
  • Help clients navigate significant financial decisions while coordinating appropriate legal, tax, investment, and other specialists.
  • Lead complex client initiatives involving multiple entities, family members, financial institutions, and professional advisors.
  • Establish priorities, coordinate resources, and maintain accountability for timely, accurate execution.
  • Independently resolve sensitive or complex client matters, exercising sound judgment and engaging additional expertise when appropriate.
  • Remain personally involved in critical details, ensuring proactive communication, thorough documentation, and exceptional follow-through.
Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
  • Mentor Analysts and Associates, helping develop their investment knowledge, technical capabilities, judgment, and client service skills.
  • Coordinate across team members and specialists to deliver integrated investment and family office solutions.
  • Promote high standards for responsiveness, accuracy, accountability, and client communication.
  • Identify opportunities to improve investment processes, technology, reporting, and the overall client experience.
  • Contribute to a collaborative culture grounded in intellectual curiosity, humility, initiative, and exceptional service.
Who We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant professional designation (CFA, CFP, or equivalent) preferred.
  • 8–15+ years of relevant experience in portfolio management, family office services, ultra-high-net-worth wealth management, private banking, registered investment advisory firms, or a comparable advisory environment.
  • Significant experience managing investment portfolios and complex relationships with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Strong understanding of asset allocation, portfolio construction, investment strategies, risk management, and public and private markets.
  • Broad knowledge of cash management, lending, tax and estate planning, philanthropy, and multi-generational wealth planning.
  • Proven ability to lead complex client initiatives involving internal specialists and external advisors.
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, emotional intelligence, and ability to navigate sensitive family dynamics.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the confidence to present investment recommendations and engage sophisticated clients.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High standards of ethics, professionalism, confidentiality, and client service.
  • Familiarity with wealth management technology, portfolio reporting platforms, CRM systems, and custodial relationships.
What You Bring:
  • A Trusted Advisor and Relationship Leader: You build enduring relationships through investment expertise, sound judgment, discretion, and a genuine understanding of clients and their families.
  • An Investment-Minded Problem Solver: You combine strong analytical capabilities and investment judgment with an ability to translate complex portfolio considerations into practical, client-specific recommendations.

  • Proactive and Resourceful: You anticipate challenges, identify solutions, and confidently navigate complex situations.
  • Financially Sophisticated: You understand the interconnected nature of investments, tax planning, estate structures, philanthropy, and family wealth.
  • A Thoughtful, Service-Oriented Leader: You mentor colleagues, set high standards, and foster collaboration while remaining humble and willing to handle whatever a client or family may need.
How You’ll Grow:
